The Kickstarter campaign page records a campaign that ran from December 27, 2024, to January 26, 2025. It reports $53,905 pledged against a $1,800 goal from 850 backers and displays an update dated March 30, 2025. Those figures document the campaign’s history, not the machine’s performance.

How the creator describes the bottle-to-filament process
Creative3DP says the machine converts standard PET water bottles into 1.75 mm filament. Its described workflow has several stages:
- Cut the bottle: The device cuts a bottle into a narrow strip for processing.
- Heat and extrude: The strip is fed through three heated hotends, according to the product listing.
- Optionally add color: The described process can colorize the material.
- Join and spool: The creator says individual strands can be welded into continuous filament and spooled.
The Kickstarter FAQ also describes integrated bottle cutting, extrusion, filament welding, and spooling. This explains the intended workflow; it does not independently verify the resulting filament’s consistency or printability.

Printer and build requirements listed by Creative3DP
Building PETFusion 2.0 requires a suitable FDM printer to make its structural parts. Creative3DP’s listing specifies the following:
- A build volume of at least 220 × 220 × 250 mm.
- PETG or ABS for heat-resistant structural parts.
- A 0.4 mm nozzle.
- A heated bed capable of 60–100°C.
- A build surface such as glass or PEI.
- Dimensional accuracy.
These are the seller’s stated requirements, not independently verified specifications for every version of the files. Confirm them against the current build files before choosing a printer or buying materials. When comparing printers, focus on build volume, compatibility with the specified materials, and dimensional accuracy. The available evidence does not establish a tested or preferred printer model.

Does PETFusion 2.0 produce reliable filament or save money?
The available sources do not establish independent, systematic tests of PETFusion 2.0’s filament consistency, reliability, print quality, or potential savings. Tom’s Hardware covered the Kickstarter launch and described the project, but that coverage is not evidence of an independent performance test. A reader asking whether anyone has real experience with the device should treat campaign activity and the creator’s product description as different from measured results.
For that reason, the evidence supports describing PETFusion 2.0 as a DIY recycling project with a stated workflow—not claiming that it reliably makes print-ready filament, reduces printing costs, or produces a particular environmental benefit. Those outcomes would depend on demonstrated results that the cited coverage does not establish.

Who might consider building it?
PETFusion 2.0 may interest makers who want to build a bottle-processing and filament-making project and already have access to an FDM printer that meets the stated requirements. It is not the same purchase as a complete appliance: the buyer receives digital build files and must print, source, and assemble the machine.
Before buying, check the current listing for license terms and included files, then compare your printer’s usable build volume and material capabilities with Creative3DP’s requirements. If your main priority is proven filament quality, dependable output, or a specific cost saving, the available independent evidence is not enough to establish that PETFusion 2.0 delivers those results.
