If you want a large-screen Android phone instead of an iPhone 17 Pro Max, compare the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, and OnePlus 15. The S26 Ultra is the camera-hardware candidate, the Pixel suits buyers drawn to Google’s software and AI features, and the OnePlus 15 led one published battery test. None is a proven all-around winner: choose based on the trade-offs that matter to you.
Which Android alternative fits your priorities?
| Your priority | Phone to consider | What supports the choice |
|---|---|---|
| Camera hardware and zoom flexibility | Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra | Samsung lists a 200 MP wide camera, 50 MP telephoto camera, and 50 MP ultra-wide camera. Those specifications do not establish better photos or video than the iPhone in every situation. |
| Google software and a large display | Google Pixel 10 Pro XL | It has a 6.8-inch display, and TechRadar highlights Google’s software and AI positioning while noting performance can lag competing phones. |
| Endurance in a published battery test | OnePlus 15 | It lasted longest among these phones in Tom’s Guide’s specified 5G web-browsing test. That result is not a promise of everyday battery life. |
| Lowest listed US starting price among the phones with verified prices | Google Pixel 10 Pro XL | Google Store lists it from $1,199; Samsung lists the S26 Ultra from $1,299.99 before trade-in. A comparable OnePlus 15 price was not established. |
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: consider it for camera hardware
Samsung’s US product page lists the Galaxy S26 Ultra from $1,299.99 before trade-in. Its specifications include a 6.9-inch display, 5,000 mAh battery, 200 MP wide camera, 50 MP telephoto camera, and 50 MP ultra-wide camera. Samsung also describes the phone as having a built-in Privacy Display. These are manufacturer-published specifications and positioning, not a controlled comparison with the iPhone. See Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra product page.
Tom’s Guide also identifies the Ultra as a premium power-user choice and cites its 6.9-inch screen, 200 MP main camera, 50 MP telephoto camera, and 60W wired charging. Megapixel counts and charging specifications can help narrow a shortlist, but they cannot by themselves establish image quality or which phone is right for you. Read Tom’s Guide’s Samsung phone guide.
Google Pixel 10 Pro XL: consider it for Google software
The Pixel 10 Pro XL combines a 6.8-inch display with a typical 5,200 mAh battery, according to Google’s specifications. Google Store lists the phone from $1,199 in the United States. Google says it can charge by wire to about 70% in around 30 minutes using a 45W USB-C PPS charger or higher; the charger is sold separately. It also supports Qi2-certified wireless charging up to 25W. View Google’s Pixel 10 Pro XL specifications.

TechRadar’s 2026 guide describes the Pixel 10 series as pairing Google’s AI software with high-end hardware, while noting that performance can lag competing phones. Treat that as the guide’s editorial assessment, not an independent benchmark result. If you prioritize Google’s software experience, weigh that appeal against the performance trade-off the guide identifies. Read TechRadar’s Android phone guide.
OnePlus 15: the endurance leader in one test
In Tom’s Guide’s 2026 battery test, the OnePlus 15 ran for 25 hours 13 minutes, ahead of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and Pixel 10 Pro XL in that test. Tom’s Guide says it used continuous web browsing over 5G at 150 nits of screen brightness. The result is useful for comparing the phones under that specific protocol, but it does not predict how long your phone will last with your apps, network conditions, settings, and usage. What to check before you switch
- Software and ecosystem: Consider whether you want Google’s software, Samsung’s Android experience, or to stay with the apps and services you already rely on. Spec sheets cannot settle personal ecosystem preferences.
- Camera use: The S26 Ultra’s listed camera hardware makes it a candidate for buyers who want multiple camera options, but the available sources do not provide a controlled camera comparison with the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
- Size: The listed displays are 6.9 inches for the S26 Ultra and 6.8 inches for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Check each phone in person if comfort or one-handed use matters to you.
- Price and availability: The quoted Samsung and Google prices are US starting prices from their product pages; prices, stock, carrier offers, and discounts vary by market and can change. A verified OnePlus 15 price is not available here.
Verdict: choose by the trade-off you value
Choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra if its large screen and camera hardware are your strongest draw; the Pixel 10 Pro XL if Google’s software and AI positioning matter more; or the OnePlus 15 if the battery-test result is compelling and you can verify a suitable local price. The available evidence supports three credible premium Android alternatives, not one universal replacement for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
