MSI listed configurations with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H. These launch specifications apply to the A1M—not every later device carrying the Claw name.
What processor does the original MSI Claw use?
The Claw A1M is MSI’s first handheld gaming PC powered by Intel Core Ultra. Intel identifies that earlier generation as Core Ultra Series 1, codenamed Meteor Lake. MSI’s Taiwan announcement listed up to the Core Ultra 7 155H, so the exact processor depends on configuration. MSI’s January 9, 2024 announcement introduced the handheld at CES 2024; Intel’s explanation of the generations distinguishes Meteor Lake from later Claw processors.
What were the Claw A1M’s announced specifications?
MSI’s Taiwan launch listing described the following configuration details. Regional models and configurations may differ.
| Specification | MSI-listed Claw A1M details |
|---|---|
| Processor | Up to Intel Core Ultra 7 155H |
| Operating system | Windows 11 |
| Graphics | Intel Arc graphics; MSI said its configuration offered up to eight Xe cores |
| Memory | 16GB dual-channel onboard LPDDR5 |
| Display | 7-inch Full HD (1920 × 1080) touchscreen, 120Hz |
| Storage | One NVMe M.2 2230 PCIe Gen 4 ×4 slot |
| Battery | 53Wh |
| Connectivity | Thunderbolt 4 |
MSI also promoted Intel XeSS upscaling as a way to improve frame rates. Its announcement said the 53Wh model could provide “2-hour battery life under full workload.” That is MSI’s stated claim and condition, not an independently verified battery test or a guarantee of runtime in every game or configuration. MSI’s launch announcement and specification listing provide the company’s original details.

How is the Claw A1M different from later Claw models?
“MSI Claw” can refer to multiple generations. The original A1M uses Core Ultra Series 1/Meteor Lake. MSI’s December 2024 announcement identified the Claw 8 AI+ A2VM as a later model with an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V (Series 2) processor, 32GB LPDDR5x memory, an 8-inch 1920 × 1200 120Hz display, and an 80Wh battery. Intel describes Core Ultra 200V as Lunar Lake, a generation after Meteor Lake. MSI’s Claw 8 AI+ announcement and Intel’s generation overview identify those distinctions.
MSI’s Claw 8 AI+ product page likewise lists the 258V processor, 8-inch screen, 80Wh battery, and dual Thunderbolt 4 ports. Those specifications belong to that later model, not the A1M. Do not use performance or battery comparisons between the generations as direct rankings unless the test conditions and configurations are comparable.
