Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has joined Alva Energy’s board of directors. Alva announced the appointment on February 12, 2026. The board seat is separate from Gelsinger’s earlier roles at venture firm Playground Global and technology company Gloo.
What is Pat Gelsinger’s new role?
Alva Energy announced on February 12, 2026, that Gelsinger had joined its board of directors. The appointment announcement identifies his new position as a board seat; it does not describe him as taking an operating role at Alva.
How his post-Intel roles differ
| Organization | Role | Date in the cited announcement or listing |
|---|---|---|
| Alva Energy | Board of directors member | Announced February 12, 2026, by Alva Energy |
| Playground Global | General partner | Axios reported his move in March 2025; Alva’s announcement also describes him as a general partner |
| Gloo | Executive chairman and head of technology | Gloo lists the roles as beginning in March 2025 |
| xLight | Executive chair of a Playground Global portfolio company | Axios reported this as part of Gelsinger’s March 2025 move |
The chronology matters: Gelsinger’s Playground Global and Gloo positions were reported or listed in 2025, while Alva’s board appointment was announced in 2026. The earlier venture-capital move was covered by Axios on March 27, 2025, and should not be mistaken for the Alva appointment.
When did Gelsinger leave Intel?
Intel said Gelsinger retired effective December 1, 2024. The company’s biography records his tenure as CEO from February 2021 to December 2024. Intel’s 2026 proxy statement says Lip-Bu Tan became CEO effective March 18, 2025.
