If your phone is not charging, first reseat the cable and test a different outlet. Then try a known-good, compatible cable and adapter. These quick checks can identify a loose connection or faulty accessory before you arrange a repair. If you see a liquid or heat warning, unplug the charger and follow your phone maker’s instructions instead of trying to bypass the alert.
Start with the connection and power source
- Unplug and reconnect the cable at the phone, power adapter, and outlet, making sure each connection is secure.
- If you are using a power strip or computer port, try a wall outlet. If possible, try another outlet too.
Apple recommends checking that connections are firm and using a wall outlet; Samsung likewise advises reconnecting the cable securely. A loose plug or outlet can look like a phone problem even when the phone itself is working normally. Apple Support · Samsung Support
Test a compatible cable and adapter
A damaged or incompatible cable or adapter may prevent charging. Try another accessory that is known to work with your phone. If you have spares, change one item at a time—first the cable, then the adapter—so you can tell which part may be at fault.
Choose accessories compatible with your particular phone; connector type and charging support vary by model. A replacement cable is worth considering only if testing points to the cable. It will not fix a damaged charging port or a battery problem. Samsung Support · Apple Support

Look for port debris without probing it
- Disconnect the charger and turn the phone off.
- Use a light to look into the charging port for visible debris.
- If anything will not come out easily and safely, stop and arrange service rather than forcing it.
Do not put metal objects or liquids into the port. Samsung advises careful debris removal and warns against metal objects and liquids; avoid probing the port, which could cause damage. Samsung Support
Unplug if the phone reports moisture or heat
A liquid, debris, or temperature warning is a stop signal, not a prompt to keep testing chargers. Unplug the cable and follow the instructions for your phone model. Google says a Pixel can display an unplug warning when liquid or debris is detected, or when the USB-C port or cable is too hot. Samsung also says charging may stop when moisture is detected or the device temperature is too high. Do not try to bypass the alert; support steps and labels can vary by model and software version. When to arrange a repair
If the phone still will not charge after you have checked the outlet, connections, and a known-good compatible accessory, contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair service for an inspection. Do the same if the port looks damaged or the cable no longer fits securely. Samsung recommends service inspection when charging problems persist after accessory checks. A technician can assess whether the fault is in the port, battery, or another component; these basic checks cannot determine that on their own. Samsung Support
Because the phone model is unknown, follow its manufacturer’s specific guidance for restarting, alerts, and any further troubleshooting. Apple’s charging guidance includes restart steps for iPhone and iPod touch, but those steps are not universal across phones. Apple Support
