A July 2026 report said Intel planned job cuts in its Data Center Group, but it did not confirm how many roles were affected or when cuts would happen. That is not the same as Intel announcing a new company-wide mass-layoff program. The report comes amid restructuring plans Intel had already disclosed, with most actions under its 2025 plan completed during 2025 and remaining actions expected in 2026.

What the July 2026 report says about Intel job cuts

On July 21, 2026, Data Center Dynamics reported that another round of layoffs was planned in Intel’s Data Center Group. The article said The Oregonian first reported the cuts, but the number of affected roles and the timing were unclear. Data Center Dynamics said Intel declined to comment on rumors or speculation in response to its own inquiry.

The report reproduced a written Intel statement given to The Oregonian. Intel said the group was aligning its organization to put the right roles and skills in place as part of a broader effort to become more focused and efficient. The company also said it was committed to treating impacted employees with respect and providing support through the transition. This was an organizational explanation, not a confirmed headcount or departure schedule.

How the reported cuts differ from Intel’s disclosed restructuring plans

Intel’s filings describe company restructuring plans; the July article describes reported cuts in one named group. Those are related context, but they are not interchangeable announcements.

The filing does not convert that cost into a number of jobs.
Reported Data Center Group cuts Data Center Dynamics, reporting The Oregonian’s account; one Intel group Reported July 21, 2026; Intel’s statement described organizational alignment. The article did not confirm the number of roles or when cuts would occur.

The plan status and cost figures come from Intel’s Q2 2026 Form 10-Q, for the quarter ended June 27, 2026. They should not be read as a newly announced 2026 job-cut target. The filing also reported employee severance and benefit arrangement charges of $161 million for Q2 2026 and $235 million for the first six months of 2026; those accounting amounts likewise do not disclose how many employees were affected.

What Intel’s 2026 revenue results add to the picture

Intel reported Q2 2026 revenue of $16.1 billion, up 25% year over year. CEO Lip-Bu Tan called it the company’s strongest revenue growth in more than fifteen years, attributing the result to greater speed, accountability, and customer focus. The company’s Q2 results release provides business context, but revenue growth does not establish the cause or scale of reported staffing actions, nor does it rule them out.
