Official sources document IR control on the POCO F9 Pro and POCO M6, and Xiaomi’s support guidance also discusses the REDMI Note 14 Pro+ 5G’s IR transmitter. These are verified examples, not a ranked list: feature confirmation alone does not establish current price, availability, or which phone is best overall.
Which phones have a documented IR blaster?
These manufacturer sources confirm IR hardware or infrared remote-control capability for the following exact models. Check the regional version and seller listing before buying; one model’s feature does not prove that every phone in its brand or family has an IR blaster.
| Phone | What the official source confirms | What to check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| POCO F9 Pro | Xiaomi’s UK support FAQ lists an IR blaster among its sensors and says the phone can be used as a remote for infrared-enabled appliances. Read Xiaomi’s POCO F9 Pro FAQ. | Confirm the exact regional model and local availability. The FAQ establishes the feature, not a current price or overall ranking. |
| POCO M6 | POCO Global’s product page advertises “Infrared remote control.” Check POCO’s M6 product page. | Verify that the listing is for the same model and market configuration. The product page does not establish local stock or price. |
| REDMI Note 14 Pro+ 5G | Xiaomi UK’s troubleshooting article discusses the model’s infrared transmitter and how to aim it at a TV or air conditioner. See Xiaomi’s infrared troubleshooting guidance. | The article supports the existence of an IR transmitter, but is not a full comparison of the phone’s features or local availability. |
For a practical shortlist, compare exact-model IR confirmation, whether a remote app supports your appliance and brand, and whether that configuration is sold in your market. Current prices and broader phone comparisons are not established by these feature sources.
What can a phone IR blaster control?
An IR blaster is hardware that emits infrared signals. A compatible remote app uses the transmitter to send commands to appliances, much like an infrared remote control. Xiaomi says its Mi Remote app works with the phone’s IR blaster.

Xiaomi lists these appliance categories for Mi Remote: TVs, set-top boxes, DVD players, smart boxes, air conditioners, projectors, cameras, and fans. The app’s guidance names brands including Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Haier, Videocon, Micromax, and Onida. These categories and brand names do not guarantee support for every individual product: Xiaomi cautions that some devices are unsupported. Check whether your specific appliance and brand are available in the app. See Xiaomi’s Mi Remote setup and supported-device guidance.
How to set up Mi Remote
- Open Mi Remote on a phone with an IR blaster.
- Tap Add remote.
- Choose the appliance category, such as TV or air conditioner.
- Select a device or provider when the app prompts you to do so.
- Test the power control and follow the app’s prompts to check whether the appliance responds.
The available device profiles determine whether the app can control your appliance; having an IR transmitter does not by itself ensure compatibility.

What to do if the appliance does not respond
- Aim the phone at the appliance. Infrared control requires a clear path between the phone’s emitter and the appliance’s receiver.
- Remove anything blocking the emitter. Xiaomi advises removing the phone case or other obstruction if it covers the transmitter.
- Confirm the appliance accepts IR commands. A device controlled through another method may not respond to an infrared remote.
- Check the app’s device profile. Some devices are not supported, so verify the actual appliance and brand rather than assuming every model in a category will work. Xiaomi’s REDMI Note 14 Pro+ 5G troubleshooting guidance covers aiming, obstructions, and IR compatibility.
How to choose the right IR-blaster phone
- Confirm the exact model. Look for an official specification, product page, or support article that names the precise phone and confirms IR hardware or remote control.
- Check the appliance before choosing the phone. Identify its brand and model, then look for a matching profile in the remote app you plan to use.
- Verify regional configuration and availability. Product names and configurations can vary by market; confirm the local version rather than inferring features from another listing.
- Compare the rest of the phone separately. IR confirmation says nothing by itself about price, camera quality, performance, or overall value, so weigh those against current local listings and your needs.
