You can buy an official PC edition of a game Sony has released for PC, stream a PS5 or PS4 game to your computer with PS Remote Play, or investigate unofficial emulator projects whose commercial-game compatibility is not established here. A PS5 copy does not automatically include the PC edition.

Play an official PC port
Some PlayStation Studios games have PC editions sold through retailers such as Steam and Epic Games. Check the listing for the specific game: its availability and PC requirements are title-specific. A PC edition is a distinct purchase from the PS5 edition. PlayStation’s PC-games FAQ says, “Yes, the PC and console versions of PlayStation Studios games are different products.” Buying the console version does not grant the PC version, and Sony says saves currently cannot transfer between PlayStation Studios PC and console editions.
Controllers and controls
PC ports support mouse, keyboard, and other controllers. Sony says a DualSense controller can be used with PlayStation Studios PC games over a wired connection; wireless use and DualSense-specific features vary by game. See Sony’s PC games support page for current game-specific details. A DualSense is an option, not a requirement for playing a PC port.
Stream a console game with PS Remote Play
Remote Play sends a game running on your PS5 or PS4 to a compatible computer. The PC acts as the screen and controller endpoint; it does not run the PS5 game natively. You need the console and access to the game on it. PlayStation puts it plainly: “A PS4 or PS5 console is required to stream your games to other devices.”

Network and computer requirements
Sony’s PS Remote Play product page lists 5 Mbps broadband as a minimum and recommends 15 Mbps or higher for a better experience. Its troubleshooting guidance calls for at least 5 Mbps upload and download. These are service thresholds, not a promise of a particular image quality or responsiveness: Sony says results vary with the network environment.
The current setup requirements list Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11, and macOS Big Sur through Tahoe, among supported computer systems. Sony lists DualSense, DualSense Edge, and DUALSHOCK 4 controllers for PC or Mac Remote Play. Requirements can change, so check the live setup page before installing.

Some games cannot be streamed
Remote Play does not work with every game. PlayStation says games requiring PS VR, PS VR2, or PlayStation Camera are incompatible; other titles may also lack Remote Play support. Check the game’s support information if it does not appear or start through the app. Sony’s Remote Play troubleshooting page covers connection issues.
Are PS5 emulators for PC a dependable option?
Not on the evidence established here. One project describes itself as a PS5 emulator for PC and Mac and asks users to provide firmware and games they legally own. That is the project’s own description, not independent confirmation that current commercial PS5 games run reliably or across a broad library. Treat claims about compatibility, performance, and setup as unverified unless they are backed by current, independent, game-by-game evidence.

There is also a contractual issue: Sony’s PlayStation Software Application End User License Agreement prohibits “(d) emulate the Software;” and separately prohibits bypassing encryption, security, or authentication mechanisms. Sony’s PS5 system software license also restricts reverse engineering and unauthorized or modified software and hardware. These are Sony’s terms, not a statement of what the law is in every jurisdiction. Anyone considering emulator software or a modified system should check applicable local law and the terms governing their account and hardware.

Do not confuse cloud streaming with Remote Play. Sony’s cloud-streaming information describes select PS5 games streamed to PS5 consoles and PlayStation Portal with PlayStation Plus Premium in listed countries; it does not identify PC as a cloud-streaming destination. Remote Play is the PC route described above: it streams from your own PS5 or PS4.
