Enter your exact service address in each satellite provider’s official availability checker, then compare the results with the FCC National Broadband Map. A provider’s own checker is the practical final test of whether you can order service at that location; the FCC map helps identify provider-reported options and advertised speeds.
1. Search using the exact service address
Use the address where the internet will be installed—not just your town or ZIP code. Include the street address and apartment or unit number, if applicable, along with the city, state, and ZIP code when requested. Address-level eligibility can differ from general coverage across a region.
2. Check each provider’s official availability tool
Run the same service address through each provider you might consider. Availability is provider- and plan-specific, and a provider serving your broader area does not establish that a particular plan can be ordered at your home.
- Starlink: Enter the service address in the Starlink Availability Map. The map indicates whether an area is available or pending coverage or regulatory approval, and directs users to check availability and plans for their area.
- Hughesnet: Use the address-based checker on Hughesnet’s coverage page. If the initial entry does not resolve, provide the requested address fields. Hughesnet describes coverage across the contiguous United States, Alaska, and Puerto Rico; its page gives online ordering guidance for the contiguous U.S. and phone or dealer guidance for Alaska and Puerto Rico.
- Viasat: Enter your street address and ZIP code in the Viasat order flow to see plans available in your area.
Hughesnet says not all plans are available to all consumers, and availability varies geographically. Treat the plans returned for your address—not a broad coverage statement—as the relevant choices.

3. Cross-check the address on the FCC map
Search the same location in the FCC National Broadband Map. The FCC says the map displays availability information reported by internet service providers. Its fixed broadband map includes satellite services and can show which providers report service at an address, the reported technology, and maximum advertised download and upload speeds. You can filter by technology, speeds, and residential versus business locations.
Use those entries to discover reported options and compare advertised technical details, not as an order guarantee. If a provider appears on the FCC map but rejects your address in its own checker, contact the provider for clarification and rely on its current order checker for an immediate purchasing decision. The FCC accepts consumer availability challenges when map information appears inaccurate.

4. Compare the plans returned for your location
Once a provider accepts the address, review the specific plan details and broadband label before choosing. Compare the information that applies to that service and location:
- Whether the checker accepts the exact address and lets you proceed with an order.
- Which plans are available there.
- The technology and advertised download and upload speeds reported for the service.
- Data terms, fees, and other plan conditions in the provider’s current plan details or broadband label.
Hughesnet’s broadband labels page notes that plan availability varies by geography. The FCC map’s reported speed figures are advertised maximums; they do not, by themselves, establish the performance you will experience at home.

- Starlink provides reliable high-speed, low-latency, internet wherever you live
- Service plan required, activate STARLINK by selecting a service plan that is customized to meet your personal needs
- Select from plans suited for households or travel
- Get online in minutes, set up STARLINK with just 2-steps, plug it in and point at the sky
- STARLINK comes with everything needed to get online including a kickstand, gen 3-router, cables and power supply
5. Check whether your property suits installation
Address eligibility and installation suitability are separate checks. After finding an eligible plan, consider whether the equipment can be installed with the required view of the sky:
- Starlink: Starlink says an unobstructed view of the sky is required and recommends using its app to identify a suitable installation location.
- Hughesnet: Hughesnet says a clear view of the southern sky is needed.
These site conditions do not replace the address lookup: a suitable installation spot does not establish that a plan is orderable, and an eligible address does not establish that your property has a suitable mounting location.
