Samyang’s Remaster Slim is a compact autofocus prime system that changes focal length by swapping its central optical module—not by zooming. Reports at launch described three modules for Sony E-mount cameras: 21mm, 28mm and 32mm, each with an f/2.8 aperture.
How the optical modules work
The Remaster Slim pairs a lens housing with interchangeable central optics. To change focal length, the user removes one optical module and fits another; a magnetic mounting system holds the module in place, according to New Atlas’s August 23, 2024 report and PetaPixel’s August 22, 2024 report.
This is a set of interchangeable prime focal lengths, not a zoom lens. The reports describe changing the optics module rather than turning a zoom ring to vary focal length continuously.

New Atlas reported all three focal lengths in the launch set and identified Sony E-mount compatibility. It also described autofocus, an AF/MF switch and a slim manual focus ring. The reports do not establish image quality through independent testing, so these specifications alone do not show how the lens compares optically with other primes or a zoom.

Size, weight and the practical trade-off
New Atlas reported that the housing projects about 2cm from the camera body and weighs less than 80g. Those are figures in its August 2024 coverage, not independent measurements documented here.
The system’s carrying proposition is one housing with multiple optical modules instead of a separate complete lens for each focal length. Whether that is more convenient depends on how often you switch focal lengths and whether the modules you want are available. The reports provide no comparative weight or cost measurements against separate lenses, and no current total-system price.

Availability and price: what the launch reports established
In August 2024, New Atlas reported a South Korea list price of 308,000 won and said the lens was not being made available outside South Korea at that time, with no international availability announced. PetaPixel likewise reported South Korean preorder availability and no additional market announcement. These are launch-era reports; they do not establish present-day pricing, stock, or distribution. Check with a local camera retailer or LK Samyang for current availability before planning a purchase.
