Manufacturer durability claims describe design intent, not a guaranteed lifespan, and repair prices depend on the model, country, damage, and coverage.
How durable are foldable phone hinges?
There is no established, standardized cross-brand hinge-life result in the sources available here. A hinge description or durability claim can help you understand a design, but it cannot predict how long an individual phone will last or be compared fairly with another brand unless the test methods and conditions match.
What manufacturers say about current models

For a meaningful comparison, look for a stated test protocol and comparable independent testing, rather than treating a fold-count number or phrases such as “built to last” as a real-world guarantee. The cited sources do not establish comparable hinge-failure rates for these phones.
How noticeable is the crease?
A crease remains a visible and tactile characteristic of an inner foldable display. Its prominence can depend on viewing angle, reflections, brightness, and what is on screen, so inspect the phone in person if possible. Look at it straight on and at an angle, with both bright and dark content, and try normal scrolling and reading rather than judging from a single static image.

In a hands-on comparison, Tom’s Guide found the Pixel 10 Pro Fold crease more noticeable than the Galaxy Z Fold7’s. Separately, TechRadar’s Galaxy Z Fold7 review, published July 18, 2025, said its crease was less pronounced than its predecessor’s but still present. These are reviewer observations, not standardized measurements; your viewing conditions and sensitivity to the crease may differ.
What might hinge or inner-screen repairs cost?
There is no responsible single repair-cost figure for foldables as a category. A quoted amount can differ depending on whether the problem is a covered defect or accidental damage, whether the hinge, inner display, or both need work, the service channel, and the country. Warranty repair language is not an out-of-warranty retail price.

Motorola’s US Razr Fold 2026 support page describes a one-year standard warranty context, says most repairs within that period cost nothing, and estimates a 3–5-business-day repair time. It does not give an out-of-warranty price, and its US terms should not be generalized to other markets. Get a quote that matches your situation
Before buying, check the manufacturer’s local support page or ask an authorized service provider for a quote for the specific model and component. Confirm whether the estimate assumes accidental damage or a covered defect, and ask about any inspection fee, deductible, service location, and turnaround. Read the warranty exclusions and the terms and price of any optional protection plan before treating coverage as part of the phone’s value.

How should you care for a foldable?
Follow the care instructions for the exact model. Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold safety guidance warns that water and dust resistance can diminish over time and advises keeping fine particles away from the display and hinge when closing the phone. This is practical guidance for that model; it should not be treated as a specification for every foldable.
