Separately, NVIDIA agreed to buy $5 billion of Intel common stock. The announcement does not describe the investment as payment for CPU design work, and it does not announce products available to buy.
What Intel and NVIDIA plan to build
The companies described two product tracks. Intel said it would design and manufacture custom CPUs using NVLink, connecting Intel and NVIDIA architectures. The announced work covers both AI data centers and personal computers.
| Track | Planned product | Disclosed maturity |
|---|---|---|
| AI data centers | Custom Intel x86 CPUs for NVIDIA AI infrastructure platforms, connected with NVIDIA NVLink. | Product development plan; no retail SKU or availability date stated in the announcement. |
| PCs | x86 system-on-chips combining Intel CPU technology and NVIDIA RTX GPU chiplets, with NVLink connecting the architectures. | Product development plan; no retail SKU or availability date stated in the announcement. |
These are different forms of collaboration: the data-center track centers on custom CPUs for NVIDIA’s AI platforms, while the PC track describes a system-on-chip combining Intel CPU and NVIDIA RTX GPU technology. The companies announced no product specifications, consumer prices, or launch dates. Intel’s announcement describes the plans, not released hardware.
What NVLink is doing in the planned CPUs
At the level described in the announcement, NVLink is the interconnect intended to link NVIDIA and Intel architectures. In the PC product plan, the company specifically says it will connect the architectures in an x86 SoC with NVIDIA RTX GPU chiplets. For data centers, Intel is to make custom x86 CPUs with NVLink for NVIDIA AI infrastructure platforms. The announcement does not provide technical specifications or further implementation details, so it does not support a more precise account of bandwidth, design, or performance.

What NVIDIA agreed to buy for $5 billion
Intel’s Form 8-K says the companies entered a securities purchase agreement on September 15, 2025. Under that agreement, NVIDIA agreed to purchase 214,776,632 shares of Intel common stock for $23.28 per share, for an aggregate cash purchase price of $5.0 billion. Intel made the collaboration and investment public on September 18, 2025. The figures and agreement date are reported in Intel’s Form 8-K.
The announcement presents the product collaboration alongside the stock purchase, but does not say NVIDIA’s investment is a fee for Intel’s CPU design work. It also does not state that NVIDIA takes control of Intel or that Intel will manufacture NVIDIA products in its foundry.

Are the joint chips available to buy?
The cited announcement establishes plans for future product development, not a retail release. It names no joint-product SKU and gives no product specifications, price, or release date. It therefore cannot answer whether products became available after the announcement; that would require later product or launch information.
