The steps depend on whether your BlackBerry runs BlackBerry 10 or Android. On BlackBerry 10, press and hold an app on the home screen until the icons blink, then tap its delete icon. On a BlackBerry Android phone such as the KEYone, use Android-specific instructions for that model; the BlackBerry 10 gesture does not apply universally.
Delete an app on a BlackBerry 10 home screen
- On the home screen, touch and hold the app icon until the icons begin to blink.
- Tap the delete icon on the app.
If no delete icon appears, the app cannot be deleted using this method. BlackBerry says some apps are part of the core BlackBerry experience and are not removable: BlackBerry Smartphone User Guide.
Remove an app through BlackBerry World
For an app listed in BlackBerry World, you can choose whether to keep a reinstall option:
- Open BlackBerry World.
- Tap More tabs > My World > My Apps & Games > Installed.
- Touch and hold the app.
- Choose Uninstall if you may want to reinstall it, or Delete for permanent removal.
After uninstalling, look under My Apps & Games > Available to reinstall the app on that device. The app may not be available if you move to another BlackBerry device: BlackBerry Smartphone User Guide.

BlackBerry Android phones: identify the model first
BlackBerry-branded Android phones, including the KEYone, use Android rather than BlackBerry 10. The KEYone user guide confirms that Android context and discusses uninstalling apps, but the available guide excerpt does not specify an exact menu path. Check the phone’s model and Android version before following device-specific instructions; do not use the BlackBerry 10 home-screen gesture as a universal method. BlackBerry KEYone User Guide.
Do not delete a work space or wipe the phone to remove one app
On a device with BlackBerry Balance, Delete Work Space removes the managed work space; it is not the ordinary way to remove a single app. A security wipe is broader still: BlackBerry’s guide says it deletes items including accounts, downloaded apps, media, documents, bookmarks, and settings. Use the app-removal method instead of either action when you only want to remove one app. BlackBerry Smartphone User Guide.

Will the removal menu still work on an older BlackBerry?
BlackBerry says support for legacy BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 is limited, and services for BlackBerry 7.1 and earlier, BlackBerry 10, and PlayBook OS ended. Those service changes do not establish that the local app-removal menu itself has stopped working. BlackBerry Support · BlackBerry end-of-life FAQ.
