What changed in ASRock’s DeskMini lineup?
The July 16, 2025 announcement introduces two compact platforms, not two fully configured PCs. ASRock positions the B860 for Intel’s LGA1851 platform and the X600/USB4 for AMD’s AM5 platform. Both support CPUs rated up to 65W, and ASRock’s 2025 comparison sheet lists memory capacity up to 128GB for each.
ASRock highlights Thunderbolt 4, four-display output and dual DDR5 CSODIMM memory for the B860. For the X600/USB4 revision, the headline change is USB4 in place of the older X600’s D-sub interface; ASRock lists support for three independent displays. The company also suggests business, education, digital signage and home entertainment uses, but those are vendor-positioned scenarios, not comparative performance results. ASRock’s announcement

Which model fits your planned build?
Choose by processor platform first
The B860 is the Intel option for Core Ultra Processors (Series 2) on LGA1851. The X600/USB4 is the AMD option for Ryzen 9000, 8000 or 7000 Series processors on AM5. Because the socket and supported processor families differ, the platform you intend to use is the clearest first decision.

Compare memory and display needs
The B860’s specification distinguishes DDR5 SO-DIMM from CSODIMM support and lists different maximum speeds for each. The X600/USB4 has its own DDR5 specification, including DDR5-6400+ overclocked in ASRock’s comparison sheet. For displays, ASRock lists four outputs for the B860 and three independent displays for the X600/USB4. Check the model-specific documentation for the exact memory type and configuration you plan to buy.
Account for ports and storage
Both models list two SATA ports and two M.2 2280 slots, one each at PCIe Gen5x4 and Gen4x4. Their featured high-speed connections differ: Thunderbolt 4 on the B860 and USB4 on the X600/USB4. Match the system to the peripherals and storage arrangement you need rather than assuming the port standards are interchangeable.

What to check before buying
These are barebone platforms. Do not assume a listing includes a processor, memory, storage or other components: confirm exactly what is in the retailer’s package and whether the configuration meets your needs.
- Confirm the exact model and revision; the USB4 feature belongs to the DeskMini X600/USB4, not a blanket description of every X600.
- Check CPU, memory and cooling compatibility against the product documentation for the model you are considering.
- Verify whether memory is SO-DIMM or CSODIMM where applicable, and whether a stated speed depends on overclocking.
- Confirm the retailer’s package contents, regional availability and current price before ordering.
ASRock cautions on the B860 product page: “This model may not be sold worldwide. Please contact your local dealer for the availability of this model in your region.” Availability should therefore be checked locally rather than assumed from the announcement. ASRock B860 product page

What the specifications do—and don’t—show
The specifications establish supported processor families, memory, storage and connectivity, but they do not establish which system is faster or better value. The cited announcement and product materials provide no comparable benchmark results or current retail prices. A performance or value choice requires configuration-specific testing and pricing beyond these feature lists.
