To level efficiently in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, connect gathering, crafting and travel into one progression loop: collect resources in the most challenging region you can safely handle, process them into useful items, and let on-foot travel build Agility along the way. Before committing to a grind, check the skill tree for an unlock that supports your actual goal. There is no verified universal fastest route or XP-per-hour ranking.
Choose a level target by checking its unlock
Skills gain experience from actions associated with them: chopping trees trains Woodcutting, while building bases, structures and furnishings trains Construction. Skill levels can unlock abilities, spells, traits or buffs, so a useful target is often the next milestone that gives you something you want—not an arbitrary high level.
- Press K to open the Skills menu.
- Select a skill to see the XP needed for its next level.
- Inspect that skill’s tree and choose a milestone that advances your current plan.
Jagex’s Skills and the Skill Tree guide explains the interface and unlocks. It does not provide a complete XP curve or skill-by-skill training route.
Turn each resource trip into a gathering-and-production loop
Rather than gathering materials and leaving them unused, plan what you will do with them before you set out. A general strategy described in a September 2026 guide is to gather in the highest-level region you can survive, then process the haul through relevant artisan activities such as smelting, crafting or cooking. That way, one expedition can support both a gathering skill and a production skill.

- Choose a region where you can reliably gather and return with your materials.
- Prioritize resources that feed a recipe or process you have unlocked and intend to use.
- Make room in the plan for processing the haul, rather than treating gathering as the entire activity.

Let travel advance Agility
A September 2026 guide says running on foot awards Agility XP. When it fits your route, travel between gathering, crafting and other objectives on foot so movement contributes to the skill. The guide also recommends completing each newly unlocked Agility course once for its milestone reward, then repeating the best course available to you. Course names and thresholds can change, so check what is currently available in your game.

Set priorities around your goal, not a universal skill order
There is no source-supported single order that is fastest for every player. The right priority depends on what you want to do next: quest progress, base building and magic can call for different skill investments. A goal-based September guide offers suggestions for these different play styles, rather than one fixed route, in Skills: What Levelling Gives You.
Plan for dependencies as well as unlocks. A narrow focus can leave you short of the materials another activity needs: magic depends on rune supplies, while food progression can involve farming and cooking together. For magic specifically, Jagex says it becomes available after the tutorial spellbook or by unlocking a first spell through a skill, and that spells require runes. Its Using Magic guide explains those requirements, but not an efficient Runecrafting route.

How much XP does level 99 take?
AllThings.How reports that a skill reaches level 99 at 1,000,000 total XP, with 657,432 XP required for levels 93–99. These are figures from that secondary guide, not a full XP table published by Jagex. They put the final stretch in perspective: unless a specific unlock or personal goal calls for it, level 99 need not be your default near-term target. Jagex’s official skills guide confirms the level-99 maximum but does not publish the complete XP curve.

Jagex announced a planned September 15, 2026 version 1.0 launch across PC and consoles in its June 23, 2026 Umbral Sands announcement. That announcement provides release context, not confirmation of every current skill, course or training route. A May 2026 roadmap described Agility traversal challenges and said Prayer was moving to a winter update; a September guide subsequently said Prayer was not yet in the game. Those dated statements do not establish its present availability, so check the live game for the current skill roster and content before planning around it. The roadmap is available in Jagex’s Kuldra’s Saga update.
