Public reports have described it as a possible mobile processor or APU, but they disagree about its architecture and launch timing. The details currently attached to the name come from an analyst roadmap and leak coverage—not an AMD product announcement.
What is AMD Sound Wave?
Sound Wave appeared in third-party reporting as the name of a possible AMD mobile chip. The available reports do not establish that AMD has announced a product under that name, that it will reach stores, or that the specifications attributed to it are final.
The uncertainty matters because the name has been tied to two different architectures: Zen 6 in a 2024 analyst roadmap and Arm in a 2025 report describing a leak. Those claims should be read as dated, unconfirmed accounts rather than as a settled description of one processor.
What have reports said about its architecture and launch?
| Source and date | Architecture and process claim | Timing claim | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|---|
| KGI Asia, 26 July 2024 | Listed “Ryzen 400 (Sound Wave)” with Zen 6; process marked “TBC.” | Forecast a 2025 launch. | Analyst roadmap, not an AMD release commitment. KGI Asia report |
| TechRadar, 2024 | Discussed possible TSMC 3 nm and Zen 6, while characterizing the information as an early leak with limited detail. | No firm launch date established in the cited account. | Secondary coverage of rumor claims; it urged skepticism. TechRadar report |
| IT Home, 21 March 2025 | Reported a possible Arm APU made on TSMC 3 nm. | Leak described a 2026 release estimate. | IT Home attributed the claims to Moore’s Law Is Dead; neither AMD nor the product is confirmed by that attribution. IT Home report |
The dates and source types help explain the mismatch, but do not resolve it. The KGI entry is an analyst forecast; the later Arm description is a leak reported by IT Home. No cited AMD documentation confirms whether either architecture claim is correct or explains whether the plans changed.

- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
What specifications have been rumored?
IT Home’s 21 March 2025 article relayed the following figures from a Moore’s Law Is Dead leak. They are unconfirmed claims, not validated or final specifications.
- CPU layout: 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores.
- Cache: 4 MB of L3 cache and 16 MB of MALL cache.
- Graphics: four RDNA 3.5 compute units.
- Memory: LPDDR5X-9600.
- AI engine: a fourth-generation AI engine.
- Power target: 5–10 W.
- Manufacturing process: TSMC 3 nm.
These details belong to the same reported Arm design and should not be combined with the earlier Zen 6 roadmap entry as though AMD had published one definitive specification sheet. No independently verified Sound Wave performance benchmark or official specification figure is established in the cited material.

Has AMD confirmed Sound Wave or a device using it?
The reports cited here do not include an AMD product announcement confirming Sound Wave, nor do they establish a named OEM customer or retail laptop built around it. IT Home published another report on 13 October 2025 discussing reported shipping-list entries and repeating earlier leak details, but that remains secondary reporting rather than official confirmation. IT Home’s October 2025 report
Accordingly, the available evidence does not establish whether the project launched, slipped, changed codename, or stopped. It also does not settle whether the chip is Arm or x86-based or whether any reported specification survived development. Until AMD or an OEM publishes product documentation, Sound Wave is best treated as a rumor codename rather than a product to buy or compare.
