Roborock’s Saros Rover is a robot vacuum in development that the company says is designed to climb and clean stairs. It was introduced at CES 2026, but Roborock has not confirmed a launch date. Its stair-handling capabilities are announced intentions, not independently verified performance.
What is the Roborock Saros Rover?
The Saros Rover is a Roborock robot vacuum with a two-wheel-leg design, announced at CES 2026. Roborock calls it “a real product in development with an unconfirmed launch date” in its official CES announcement. The announcement describes a concept in development, not a product currently available to buy.
How is the Rover meant to climb stairs?
Roborock says the Rover’s two legs can raise and lower independently. The company describes AI algorithms, motion sensors and 3D spatial information as helping the robot respond to its surroundings as it moves.
That wheel-leg arrangement is intended to let it travel between floors while cleaning staircase steps, rather than simply avoiding stairs as conventional robot vacuums typically do. Roborock says it is designing the Rover for traditional and curved stairs, carpeted stairs with bullnose fronts, slopes and multi-level thresholds. Those descriptions are manufacturer claims; the company has not published verified operating limits or cleaning results in the cited announcement. Its CES announcement and product description outline the intended design.

During recharging, the main and side brushes are raised to avoid dirt transfer onto the floor, delivering a quiet and pristine mopping experience.
Can a robot vacuum climb stairs, and will the Rover clean every step?
The Rover announcement suggests Roborock is developing a robot intended to climb stairs and clean as it goes. It does not establish that the Rover can handle every staircase or clean every tread effectively. No step-height limit, supported stair dimensions, traversal speed, safety behavior, coverage data or independently measured cleaning performance is established by the sources cited here.
The distinction matters: a stated design goal is not the same as a tested capability. Stair shape, tread size, carpet, edges and transitions could all affect performance, but the final product’s limits are not yet known.

What did the CES demonstration show?
The Associated Press reported seeing the Rover ascend and descend stairs slowly at CES. That is an observation of a show-floor demonstration, not a measured speed specification or an independent product review. It does not establish how the final product will perform in ordinary homes.
When will the Saros Rover be released, and what will it cost?
Roborock’s announcement says the Rover remains in development and gives no confirmed launch date. The cited sources also do not establish a price, regional availability, final specifications or a later change in product status. There is therefore no confirmed basis to treat it as available for purchase.
