Ninja machines do not all share the same controls or cleaning procedure, so find the model number on the brewer or its documentation before clearing a clog, pressing a reset control or starting a clean cycle.
1. Identify your Ninja coffee maker model
Find the model number on the appliance or in its paperwork, then open the matching guide through Ninja support. The support listings include separate resources for families such as CF080/CF085, PB045, CFP300-series and DCM200-series. Do not assume instructions for one family apply to another.
2. Check power, water and reservoir seating
- Confirm the brewer is connected to a working outlet and switched on as the model requires.
- Check that the reservoir has enough fresh water for the selected brew and is firmly seated.
- Make sure removable parts required for brewing, such as the brew basket and carafe, are positioned as the model guide shows.
If the display says “Add Wtr”
On the PB045/DualBrew, the message means there is not enough water in the reservoir to complete the brew. Add fresh water, then press the brew-style button for the brew that was interrupted to resume it. If the reservoir is already full, remove it and press it firmly back into place. If “Add Wtr” remains, contact Ninja customer service rather than trying to bypass the sensor.
3. Check the basket and any model-specific brew control
Confirm the basket, carafe and any other removable brew components are correctly installed. Some models have a Drip Stop; check its position in the manual if coffee is not flowing into the carafe. The CF060UK guide says that if its Drip Stop is closed and the brewer continues dripping, run that model’s clean cycle or wash the brew basket thoroughly with warm soapy water. These control and cleaning instructions are not universal.

4. Respond to a “CLOG” warning on the DualBrew
The PB045/DualBrew guide associates “CLOG” with grounds around the pod needles or calcium scale. For this model, follow its stated sequence:
- Check whether the pod was punctured as expected.
- Inspect the needles for visible grounds. If grounds are present, clear them only as the guide directs, using its specified flat wire or plastic clip.
- Power-cycle the machine, then run a water-only full-carafe Classic brew.
- If no grounds are visible or “CLOG” persists, run the model’s cleaning/descaling cycle.
Needle-clearing steps apply only to a brewer with the documented needle design. Do not probe another model’s brew path with a tool unless its own guide instructs you to.

5. Descale only according to your model’s guide
Scale can affect brewing performance or flavor, and some models signal when cleaning is needed. Use the cleaning solution, cycle and rinse procedure specified for your exact machine. Cycle times differ: the PB045/DualBrew guide describes a roughly 75-minute clean cycle, while the CF060UK guide describes an approximately eight-minute cycle. Neither timing should be applied to other Ninja models.
For the PB045/DualBrew, the guide allows its specified white-vinegar mixture or a descaling solution formulated specifically for coffee makers. It says a water-only clean cycle does not descale the system properly. After cleaning, empty and rinse the reservoir, refill it with fresh water, and run a full-carafe water-only brew to flush the machine. Follow a different procedure if your model’s guide specifies one.

6. Contact Ninja support if brewing still fails
Stop troubleshooting and contact Ninja support if a warning remains after the model’s prescribed steps, the brewer still will not complete a brew after its cleaning procedure, or you suspect an internal electrical or mechanical fault. The DualBrew guide specifically directs owners to customer service if “Add Wtr” persists after reseating a full reservoir or if an “Er” code followed by a number appears. Have the model number and exact display message ready. Do not open the appliance or attempt an internal repair.
