To report a potentially misleading or disturbing Instagram ad, open the sponsored post’s options menu, choose Report Ad if available, and follow the prompts. If you only want to see less of an ad, choose Hide Ad instead; hiding and reporting serve different purposes.
Report an Instagram ad

Find the sponsored ad in your Instagram feed or another place it appears.

Open the ad’s options menu, usually shown as three dots or a similar control.

Select Report Ad if that option appears.

Choose the closest available reason and complete the on-screen prompts. Menu labels and report reasons can vary, so use the options currently shown in your app.

The Singapore regulator’s 2024 Instagram online-safety report includes screenshots of both Hide Ad and Report Ad in the ad menu. A 2020 walkthrough describes a similar reporting flow, but older instructions may not match current menus.

Use Hide Ad when the ad is simply irrelevant or unwanted. Use Report Ad when you believe there is a policy concern. These options are documented in the regulator’s screenshots and the older walkthrough above.
What to do if an ad is disturbing
Describe the concern accurately and select the closest reason the app offers. Disturbing imagery is not automatically a policy violation. Instagram’s Community Guidelines say it may remove intense graphic violence, while recognizing that graphic imagery can also be shared to condemn violence or for awareness and education.

Instagram’s Help Center information about Support Requests says users can review some submitted reports and decisions there. Some decisions may offer a request for another review, but not every report appears in Support Requests and some report types do not provide another review option. The Help Center page reviewed is Turkish-localized, so labels may differ in other languages. Instagram does not promise a particular response time or outcome.
