Then remove only what you recognize and no longer need. Before deleting photos or app data, confirm that anything important is safely backed up or copied elsewhere. HiOS menus vary by model and software version, so labels may differ.
Check what is using storage

Open Settings and tap Storage. The exact label or menu location can vary by TECNO model and HiOS version.

Review the categories and start with the largest ones. Storage holds files and app data; memory is used by programs while they run. A slow phone does not, by itself, mean storage is full.

Do not try to delete an entire System or Other category. If either remains unexpectedly large after reviewing apps and personal files, use support resources for your exact model rather than deleting hidden files.

- Actual Capacity: Storage may be smaller than the labeled capacity because manufacturers use the decimal system (1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes), operating systems display storage using the binary system (1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes). This is a normal industry practice and does not affect performance
Android’s free-up-space guidance covers general cleanup options, but TECNO’s support page directs owners to model-specific resources instead of documenting one cleanup route for every phone.
Remove apps and clear cache without wiping app data
Uninstall apps you no longer use
Review your installed apps and uninstall ones you recognize and no longer need. This can remove both the app and its locally stored data, so check whether you need anything saved in the app before removing it.
Clear temporary cache selectively
For an app you want to keep, open its app information and look for Storage and Clear cache. The route and labels vary. Cache contains temporary files; an app may run more slowly the next time it opens while it rebuilds them.
Do not confuse Clear cache with Clear storage or Clear data. Clearing storage or data permanently removes app data. Check the app’s own cleanup options first, and proceed only if you understand what will be lost.
Review photos and videos before deleting local copies
If you use Google Photos to back up pictures, confirm that backup has finished and that the app is signed in to the account where you want the copies kept. Only then consider removing device copies:

In Google Photos, tap your profile image and choose Free up space on this device.

Review the amount shown, then confirm only if you are ready to remove those local copies.
This feature deletes copies from the phone, not the backed-up versions in Google Photos. Google notes that photos and videos less than 30 days old may remain on the device. Removed items may no longer appear in the phone’s built-in Gallery or be available offline; backed-up copies remain viewable in Google Photos when you are signed in and connected. Delete downloads and offline media you recognize
Look through the Downloads folder and the downloaded or offline sections of the apps you use for music, movies, and other media. Remove individual files only when you recognize them and are sure you no longer need them. Some downloads are managed inside the app that saved them, so deleting them from that app may be the appropriate route. Android explains these options in its storage cleanup guidance.

Keep important files by copying them to a computer
If you want to retain large files but remove them from the phone, Android recommends transferring files and folders to a computer using a USB cable. Use a data-capable cable that works with your TECNO phone and computer; connector compatibility depends on the model.

Connect the phone to the computer with the compatible USB cable.

Copy the files or folders you want to keep.

Open the copied files on the computer to verify that the transfer worked.

Only after checking the copies, delete the originals from the phone if you still need the space.
See Android’s file-transfer instructions. An external USB drive may also work on some TECNO models, but check the documentation for your exact phone before relying on USB or OTG storage.

Recheck storage and get model-specific help
Return to Settings > Storage after cleanup to see whether the categories have changed. If storage still appears unusually high, review app usage and consult TECNO’s support resources for your exact model. Available menus and features can differ across TECNO phones and HiOS versions; do not assume a particular Phone Master tool or menu name will be present.
