Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBefore buying a foldable phone in India, decide whether you need a compact flip or a book-style phone with a larger inner screen. Then compare the exact Indian variant’s screens, storage, cameras, current price, water-resistance limits, warranty and repair options, and what is included in the box. Get the price and any protection-plan terms for that specific model in writing before you pay.
Choose the foldable shape that fits how you use your phone
Flip foldables: compact when closed
A flip phone folds into a shorter, more pocketable shape. Ask whether the smaller folded footprint matters more to you than having a large screen available without opening the phone. Try the cover display for the tasks you expect to do while the phone is closed, such as checking notifications or handling quick interactions.
Book-style foldables: a larger screen when open
A book-style phone opens into a wider display that may suit reading, viewing documents, video calls, and working with more than one app. Consider how often you would actually open it, whether its unfolded size is useful for your tasks, and whether its folded dimensions and weight are comfortable to carry. Samsung positions the Galaxy Z Fold7 around its larger unfolded screen and the Z Flip7 around a compact folded footprint; treat these as manufacturer positioning, then judge the practical fit for yourself. Samsung India’s Fold7 and Flip7 guide describes those use cases.
Compare the exact Indian model and storage variant
Names alone are not enough: compare the precise model and configuration on the seller’s listing, invoice, and manufacturer’s India product page. Storage affects both the purchase price and how much room you have for apps, photos, and video. Compare like with like, including the same storage tier, and check the cover and inner screen sizes, camera configuration, weight, and folded and unfolded dimensions against your own needs.

For any model, check the current India price for the same storage configuration from the seller you plan to use. Promotions and availability can change; do not use a launch price as evidence of today’s deal.
Understand the water-resistance rating—and its limits
Read the rating for the exact model rather than assuming every foldable has the same protection. Samsung lists IP48 for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. Its India guide says the rating was based on laboratory submersion in freshwater up to 1.5 metres deep for up to 30 minutes, and states: “Not advised for beach or pool use.” That is a bounded test condition, not a general waterproof guarantee.

Samsung’s support guidance warns against exposure beyond the stated depth or duration and against high water pressure. Its model listing and limitations are on Samsung India’s water-resistance support page. Check the manufacturer’s own wording for any other handset; do not transfer Samsung’s rating or conditions to a competing model.
Check warranty, accidental-damage cover, and repair arrangements
Before paying, find out who provides the India warranty, what it excludes, whether accidental screen damage is covered, what the plan costs, and where repairs can be arranged. A foldable’s repair exposure matters because damage to a folding screen may not be covered by the standard warranty.

Coverage is model- and plan-specific. Motorola Support India says cracked or shattered screens are not covered by the standard warranty for the cited razr fold guidance, while directing customers to its Moto Care Accident Protection Plan for that protection. Samsung describes Care+ coverage on its Fold7 page, but says terms, services, fees, and eligibility can vary. Read the applicable India terms for the exact phone and plan rather than assuming one brand’s policy applies to another. See Motorola’s razr fold support page and Samsung’s Fold7 purchase page.
Also ask the seller or manufacturer how to obtain service, whether the device is eligible for the stated plan, and what the repair process requires. The cited guidance does not establish a complete service inventory or repair cost for every brand and model in India, so confirm availability and terms directly before purchase.

For a used, imported, or marketplace unit, request the exact model number and region, a valid invoice, the identity of the warranty provider, and the repair route in India. Confirm those details with the manufacturer before buying. The available manufacturer guidance does not establish a universal international-warranty rule, so do not assume a phone sold for another region will receive Indian warranty service.
Check the box contents and charging needs
Confirm what comes with the exact phone before buying accessories. Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold7 does not include a power adapter and that the adapter must be purchased separately. Check the product listing and manufacturer’s India page for the handset you are buying, then verify the charger requirements rather than assuming a suitable adapter or case is in the box. Samsung’s Fold7 purchase page includes its charger FAQ.
