Unlock gadgets by progressing through the game and increasing your World Match rank, then equip them from the Garage’s Gadget Customization screen by attaching them to your Gadget Plate. Each gadget changes your racing options, so choose effects to suit your driving style, machine, track, and race mode.
How to unlock more gadgets
SEGA says gadgets unlock as you play, and its official features page specifically identifies World Match rank increases as another way to earn new gadgets. The exact unlock path depends on the gadget: check its requirement in the current game rather than assuming every gadget comes from the same mode.

How to equip gadgets
- Open the Garage from the game’s main menu.
- Choose Gadget Customization (also referred to in update notices as Customize Gadgets).
- Select the gadgets you want and attach them to your Gadget Plate, checking any requirement shown for an item.
- Confirm the setup before racing. If an ability uses a button, check the current in-game button assignments; they can be changed, and older manual instructions may not match the live version.
SEGA describes gadgets as abilities that change your playstyle options. Its online manual search result places gadget controls in the Garage’s Gadget Custom area, but that manual reflects Closed Network Test specifications, not necessarily the current release. Treat its button wording as provisional and verify assignments in-game.
How gadget effects work in races
Gadgets do not all work alike. SEGA’s examples include extra item stock, easier drift charging, and a larger Rocket Punch. Some effects alter what is available or how the machine behaves; others may be triggered with an assigned button. Do not assume every equipped gadget has a manual activation.

Updates can add or adjust effects and restrict where particular gadgets can be used. For example, in Ver. 1.3.1 SEGA said Warp Ring and Warp Ring Specialist could not be used in World Match, Festivals, or Legend Competition, while they remained available against CPU opponents and in Friend Matches. Check current mode restrictions before settling on a competitive setup.

There is no universally best loadout established by these official descriptions. Start with the job you want the gadget to do, then consider your driving strengths, machine, track, and race mode. SEGA presents gadgets as a way to adapt playstyle to each track, and new updates can change the available choices.
