Open Discord in a supported desktop browser
- Open an up-to-date desktop browser and go to discord.com/login. Check the address carefully before entering account details.
- Sign in with the email address or verified phone number associated with your Discord account and its password. You can also scan the QR code using Discord’s mobile app. Discord describes these login options in its account login guide.
Discord’s Getting Started guide identifies the web client as an option for people who do not want to download the app. This is a browser workaround, not a promise that every desktop-app feature or experience will be identical.
Check Discord’s published browser requirements
Discord’s system-requirements article, updated July 21, 2026, lists these minimum desktop browser versions. Older browsers may lack functionality, and Discord does not support using the service in a mobile browser.

These minimums come from Discord’s current system requirements and may change. If a browser is below its listed version, update it or try another supported desktop browser.

Fix common browser access problems
The page will not load or sign-in fails
- Confirm that you are using discord.com/login, not a look-alike address.
- Try a current browser that meets Discord’s published minimums, then check the system-requirements page.
- If the problem continues, check Discord’s service status. A failure to load or sign in does not by itself establish that Discord is down; the available guidance does not identify one universal cause for these failures.
Get voice and video working in the browser
Signing in and using text channels does not necessarily mean your microphone or camera is ready for calls. Browser permissions, selected devices, and the connection can affect voice and video.
- When the browser asks, allow discord.com to use your microphone and camera. If you previously denied access, change those permissions in the browser’s site settings; the steps differ by browser. Discord’s voice and video troubleshooting guide links to browser-specific permission instructions.
- In Discord, open User Settings → Voice & Video. Check that the intended input and output devices are selected, the volume is appropriate, and the input mode is set as intended.
- Make sure your microphone, headset, or webcam is connected securely. If the devices and permissions look right but the issue remains, check your connection; then try restarting the browser or updating your system as appropriate.
If others cannot hear you, focus first on microphone permission and the selected input device. If you cannot hear them, check the selected output device and volume. Discord’s audio input troubleshooting article covers additional voice-device issues.

When to contact Discord Support
If voice or video still fails after checking permissions and devices, Discord asks users submitting a support ticket to include details that help identify the setup and reproduce the issue:
- Your browser name and version.
- The platform where the issue occurs, such as the browser, mobile app, or desktop app.
- Screenshots of the Voice & Video settings.
- A list of the input and output devices you are using.
Discord’s troubleshooting guide also recommends the desktop client for the best experience. Its system requirements and macOS support notices describe browser Discord as an option for people who cannot run a supported desktop client, provided they meet browser requirements. The notices address older macOS versions: macOS 11 and macOS 12.
