Then use Windows or HP diagnostics to narrow down whether the cause is the laptop, the network, or the accessory. OmniBook controls and drivers vary by model, so identify your exact product number and Windows version before installing a driver or making model-specific changes.
Start with the wireless basics
- Turn off Airplane mode in Windows and make sure the radio you need—Wi-Fi or Bluetooth—is turned on. Windows labels and menus may differ by version.
- If your OmniBook has a physical wireless key or button, check that it has not disabled the radio. Not every model has the same controls.
- Restart the OmniBook and the affected router or accessory. For Bluetooth, make sure the accessory is powered on and ready to connect.
Fix Wi-Fi that will not connect or keeps dropping
1. Run Windows network diagnosis
Use Windows network diagnosis and review both the reported problem and its suggested action. If available, HP Support Assistant also includes Network Check, which can identify possible causes, recommend actions, and check again after a repair. See HP networking diagnostics and Network Check.
2. Check whether the network is the problem
Try another device on the same Wi-Fi network. If other devices also cannot connect, the issue may be the router, gateway, modem, or internet service—not the OmniBook. Check the network equipment’s lights and connections, then restart the router, gateway, or modem using its normal procedure. HP’s Wi-Fi troubleshooting guidance includes these network checks.
3. Update Windows or reinstall the wireless adapter
If other devices connect normally and the problem appears limited to the laptop, check Windows Update. HP also recommends reinstalling the wireless adapter through Device Manager. Use HP’s instructions for the applicable system, and be cautious about any option to delete driver software: that can make recovery more disruptive if the correct replacement driver is not available.

4. Run HP networking hardware tests if the fault persists
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics includes networking tests. If a test fails, keep its Failure ID and contact HP to discuss help or repair options. A failed hardware test is a reason to seek model-specific support, not to assume a particular wireless part is compatible or user-replaceable.
Fix Bluetooth devices that cannot be found or paired
1. Confirm that Bluetooth is available and enabled
Open Device Manager and look for Bluetooth or Bluetooth Radios. If no Bluetooth entry appears, confirm the OmniBook’s exact configuration and support page before concluding the computer lacks Bluetooth. Check that Airplane mode is off, Bluetooth is enabled in Windows, and the accessory itself is switched on and discoverable. HP’s Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance covers these checks.

2. Reduce distance and interference
Move the accessory closer and remove barriers where practical. HP suggests keeping Bluetooth devices within 10 m (33 ft), but walls, objects, and other wireless devices can weaken the connection even at shorter distances.
3. Restart and check the driver
Restart both the OmniBook and the accessory, then try pairing again. If it still fails, check for a Bluetooth driver update. HP notes that a driver can be in an error state or corrupted; its instructions also recommend uninstalling the affected Bluetooth device, restarting Windows, and pairing again so Windows can reinstall the driver.

Get the correct driver for your OmniBook
Do not choose a driver just because it is labeled for an OmniBook. HP provides separate support pages for different models, and its driver-download pages ask you to select the product and operating system version. Find your exact product number and Windows version, then use the matching HP driver page. For example, HP’s OmniBook 7 14-inch driver page is for that representative model, not every OmniBook. HP warns that if an operating system is not listed for a product, driver support may not be available for that product and OS. Avoid third-party driver-download sites.

Choose the next step based on the symptom
- Other devices also cannot use Wi-Fi: investigate the router, gateway, modem, or service before treating the OmniBook as the cause.
- Only the OmniBook has a Wi-Fi problem: run laptop diagnostics, check Windows Update, and follow model-specific HP instructions for the wireless adapter.
- Bluetooth cannot find one accessory: check that the accessory is discoverable, nearby, and restarted before changing drivers.
- A diagnostic test fails: retain the Failure ID and ask HP about support or repair options.
