Usually, this message means either the title isn’t licensed for the country you’re in, or the service can’t confirm your location. Those are different problems: a streaming service can work normally while one show is missing, and a location error doesn’t prove the title has permanently left the catalog.
Why a title can be unavailable in your country
Streaming catalogs are licensed by territory, not necessarily worldwide. A studio or distributor may grant one service the rights in one country and a different service the rights elsewhere; a title may also be exclusive to another platform or not licensed locally at all. Netflix explains that it cannot obtain rights in a region if no one is selling them or the title is exclusive to another service (Netflix Help Center). Local preferences can also affect which titles Netflix offers.
A subscription therefore does not guarantee access to every title in every country. Amazon Prime Video’s global terms say that content and how it is offered vary over time and by location, and that Amazon uses location-verification technology (Amazon Prime Video Global Terms of Use). The applicable terms and service provider can depend on where you are.
First, tell a catalog issue from a location error
- Only one title is missing: Local licensing or release timing is plausible. On Netflix, profile maturity settings, blocked-title settings, and profile language can also affect what appears.
- The service reports that the title is unavailable in your current region: For Netflix’s E103/current-region message, Netflix says it cannot determine which country you are in. That points to location detection, not by itself to a permanent catalog removal.
- The whole service is inaccessible: That is broader than one title’s licensing status. Follow the service’s own account, connection, or location troubleshooting rather than assuming a title-rights issue.
What to try on Netflix
Netflix uses the wording “This title is not available in your current region.” Its help page explains that this can mean Netflix cannot determine your country (Netflix current-region error help).

- If a VPN is active, turn it off on the device or network, then try the title again. Netflix identifies VPN use as a possible cause of this location error.
- If you are traveling or recently moved, sign out and back in. Netflix recommends this after a change in location. Travel can also change the catalog: outside the EU, Netflix says the catalog may differ from home; travel to another EU member country retains the home catalog for a limited period.
- If Netflix still places you in the wrong country, follow its “Netflix thinks I’m in a different country” guidance.
If a title is simply absent from the catalog rather than displaying a current-region message, check the profile’s maturity level, blocked-title settings, and language. The title may not yet be released locally or may not have local rights. If it used to be available, Netflix points users to its separate help about titles leaving Netflix.
How other services handle location messages
Disney+
Disney+ Error 73 can indicate that you are trying to access the service from a region where it is unavailable, or that a VPN or IP anonymizer is in use. Disney+ lists disabling the VPN, testing the connection, and restarting the device among its suggested actions. Availability may also change while traveling; some live sports can depend on location services or blackout restrictions. Check Disney+’s current Error 73 help and location and availability guidance for instructions that apply to your situation.

What the message does—and does not—tell you
- It does not necessarily mean your account is suspended or the streaming service is malfunctioning.
- A VPN is not a reliable fix for a title missing because of territorial rights; it may instead trigger a location error. Amazon’s terms prohibit methods that disguise location.
- A router, adapter, or other hardware cannot add licensing rights to a local catalog.
