To set up a new HP OmniBook, identify the exact model, connect its supplied power adapter as shown in its guide, complete the Windows first-run prompts, connect to a trusted network, and install the available updates. OmniBook hardware and Windows prompts vary, so use the support page for your exact product number whenever an instruction depends on the model.
Before you turn on the OmniBook
Check the box and identify your model
Confirm you have the laptop and its supplied power adapter and cable. Keep the quick-start and safety information nearby. Ports, power connectors, and included accessories can differ across OmniBook models, so do not assume instructions for a similar-looking laptop apply to yours.
Find the support page for your exact product at HP Support. HP notes that pressing Fn+Esc can display a laptop serial number, but a serial number alone may not identify the product; the support site may also ask for a product number. Use the matching model page for its user guide, drivers, warranty status, and service information. Warranty coverage depends on the individual product and region.
Choose a suitable place to set up
Place the laptop on a stable surface near a power outlet, with its ventilation openings clear. An optional stand can raise the display and may help airflow, but check that it fits the chassis and does not block the vents. If you are considering an adjustable laptop stand, assess its fit, stability, height and angle adjustment, and portability for your desk.

Connect power and start Windows
Follow the included guide for your OmniBook’s specific power connection, then press the power button and wait for Windows setup to begin. The correct connection is model-dependent; use the model guide rather than assuming one power instruction applies to every OmniBook.
Complete the first-run Windows prompts
Windows setup guides you through initial choices. HP Support’s Windows 11 first-time setup walkthrough describes connecting to a network, choosing how the device will be used, configuring sign-in, optional customization, and completing updates.

- Choose your region and other requested basic settings.
- Connect to a trusted Wi-Fi network when prompted. HP’s general setup guidance also describes Ethernet as a network option, if your model and network setup support it.
- Answer prompts about device use and sign-in. The wording and available choices can vary by Windows edition, region, account state, and software version; do not assume a particular account option will appear.
- Review optional customization choices and continue through the remaining prompts.
If this is a work-managed laptop, your organization may determine some setup choices, account requirements, or update settings.
Install Windows and HP updates
Once you reach the Windows desktop, let the offered updates install and restart when requested. HP describes Windows Update as the route for Windows 11 version updates. Update availability and timing may be controlled by an organization on a managed computer.

For model-specific drivers and instructions, return to the matching HP product page rather than installing files intended for a different OmniBook. Let any installation activity finish before deciding that the laptop is unusually slow.

Temporary slowness during initial use can occur while Windows Update, Microsoft Store, HP Support Assistant, or security software installs updates. Give that activity time to settle, and restart if Windows requests it. If the problem continues after updates have finished, consult the exact product’s HP support page for model-specific help.

Optional desk accessories
A stand is not required to set up the laptop. HP’s general setup guidance notes that a stand can raise the display and improve airflow, but fit and vent placement must be checked for the specific machine. External monitors, keyboards, and mice are also optional; connect them only if they suit your workspace and OmniBook’s available ports.
