USB-C is the better choice when you want a direct wired connection and your Galaxy supports a fast wired mode; wireless is more convenient when your exact phone supports Qi charging and you can place it properly on a compatible pad. Neither method is universally faster: the phone model, charger, cable, settings, and charging conditions determine the result.
Which charging method should you choose?

For the exact modes your phone supports, use Samsung’s per-model Galaxy charger compatibility table. The table distinguishes wired modes from normal and fast wireless charging; a charger’s advertised capability alone does not establish what your phone will use.
Check whether your Galaxy supports wireless charging
Do not assume that every Samsung Galaxy phone can charge wirelessly. Samsung lists many S-series and Z-series devices as compatible, but its US support guidance excludes Galaxy A and XCover phones. Confirm your precise model in Samsung’s wireless charging support guide before buying or troubleshooting a pad.
What Samsung’s wired charging modes mean
Samsung’s compatibility table assigns charging modes by phone. It separates normal charging, Fast Charging, Super Fast Charging, and Super Fast 2.0, so a USB-C port does not by itself indicate which speed a particular Galaxy supports.

Fast and Super Fast charging
Samsung’s US guidance describes Fast Charging at 15W with a 15W USB-A adapter and suitable cable, and Super Fast Charging at 25W with a USB-C adapter. These figures describe the specified mode and accessory setup, not a guaranteed rate for every Galaxy phone. Check the phone’s supported mode and Samsung’s fast-charging guidance for adapter, cable, and settings requirements.
Super Fast 2.0
Samsung says Super Fast 2.0 requires a USB Power Delivery 3.0-compatible device that supports Direct Charging. A phone or accessory without the required capability charges at a lower speed. Verify the requirements for your model rather than selecting an adapter solely by its wattage label.

Does USB-C charge faster than wireless?
There is no single answer that applies to all Galaxy phones. The sources here do not provide a controlled, same-phone comparison of wired and wireless charging time. Samsung cautions that charging speed varies with the model and charging environment, and accessory compatibility also affects wired speeds. Compare the modes supported by your exact phone and the accessories you actually intend to use; do not infer a specific time or rate from “wired” or “wireless” alone.

Convenience and setup trade-offs
Choose USB-C when
- You want a wired connection and your phone supports the charging mode available from your adapter and cable.
- You need to keep the phone connected by cable; wireless charging may be unavailable while a cable is attached to the phone.
Choose wireless when
- Your exact Galaxy model supports wireless charging and you prefer setting the phone down instead of plugging it in.
- You can keep the phone correctly positioned on a compatible pad and remove a case or accessory if it obstructs charging.
Fix charging that is slower than expected or will not start
Wireless charging
- Confirm that the exact phone model supports wireless charging using Samsung’s compatibility guidance.
- Center the phone on the pad’s charging area. Misalignment can prevent charging or affect performance.
- Remove a case or third-party accessory that may interfere; Samsung notes that cases and charger coil layouts can affect charging.
- Disconnect any cable attached to the phone before trying wireless charging.
USB-C charging
- Check Samsung’s model-specific charging table to confirm the wired mode your phone supports.
- Use an adapter and cable compatible with that mode. For Super Fast 2.0, Samsung specifies USB Power Delivery 3.0 compatibility and Direct Charging support.
- Check that fast charging is enabled where applicable, and allow for variation caused by the model and charging conditions.
