To update the GIGABYTE TRX50 AERO D BIOS, first identify your motherboard revision and download firmware from that revision’s support page. Then use either Q-Flash from BIOS Setup/POST or Q-Flash Plus while the system is shut down. GIGABYTE advises against flashing a BIOS that is working properly unless you have a specific reason to update.

Before you update: check the motherboard revision and the reason

  1. Find the revision printed on the motherboard. GIGABYTE has separate support pages for TRX50 AERO D Rev. 1.0, Rev. 1.1, and Rev. 1.2. Use the page for your exact revision; do not assume a BIOS file or version listed for one revision is right for another. Open the Rev. 1.1 BIOS support page only if your board is Rev. 1.1.
  2. Decide whether an update is needed. Read the release notes and update when a listed fix, security or stability improvement, or processor-support change applies to you. GIGABYTE warns that flashing carries risk and recommends not flashing if the current BIOS works without problems.
  3. Download and extract the matching BIOS archive. Keep the extracted BIOS file accessible. You will need suitable FAT32/16 media for Q-Flash, or FAT32/16/12 media for Q-Flash Plus. A USB flash drive is sufficient if you do not already have suitable media; the cited instructions do not specify a required capacity, brand, or speed.

What the Rev. 1.1 release list shows

On the Rev. 1.1 support page, the latest release listed in the information available for this article is FA3h, dated July 9, 2026. Its notes say it updates AMD SHP-AGESA to 1.0.0.1g and improves system security and stability. That is a Rev. 1.1 listing, not a recommendation or version for every TRX50 AERO D. Check your own revision’s support page for its current files and release notes before proceeding. The Rev. 1.0 page uses F-series version names, illustrating why the revision check matters.

Choose between Q-Flash and Q-Flash Plus

Method System state Media and file preparation How you start it
Q-Flash Enter POST or BIOS Setup Put the extracted matching BIOS file on FAT32/16 media Press End during POST, or select Q-Flash in BIOS Setup / press F8
Q-Flash Plus System off in S5 shutdown state; PSU remains on and board power connections stay attached Rename the extracted matching BIOS file GIGABYTE.bin and put it on FAT32/16/12 USB media Insert the drive in the dedicated rear Q-Flash Plus port and press the Q-Flash Plus button

Both methods require a BIOS file for the exact motherboard model and revision. In either method, do not interrupt power or remove the media while the firmware is being read or flashed.

Update with Q-Flash from BIOS

  1. Copy the extracted BIOS file for your exact revision to FAT32/16 USB or supported hard-drive media.
  2. Restart the computer. During POST, press End to open Q-Flash. Alternatively, enter BIOS Setup and select Q-Flash or press F8.
  3. Choose Update BIOS, select the matching firmware file, and follow the utility’s prompts.
  4. Wait for the process to finish. Do not switch off or restart the computer, and do not remove the drive while Q-Flash is reading or flashing the file.
  5. After the system restarts, enter BIOS Setup, choose Load Optimized Defaults, then choose Save & Exit. GIGABYTE recommends reloading defaults after an update so the system can re-detect peripheral devices.

Update with Q-Flash Plus while the system is off

Yes. Q-Flash Plus is designed to update from the S5 shutdown state without starting the system normally. “Off” does not mean the motherboard is disconnected from power: the PSU must be switched on and the required power connectors must remain attached.

  1. Download and extract the BIOS archive from the support page for your exact board revision.
  2. Rename the extracted BIOS file GIGABYTE.bin and place it on a FAT32/16/12 USB drive.
  3. With the system shut down, connect the 12V power connector—either one if the board has two—and the main power connector. Switch on the PSU.
  4. Insert the USB drive into the dedicated rear Q-Flash Plus port, then press the Q-Flash Plus button. The board searches for and matches the BIOS file automatically.
  5. Wait while the QFLED or button flashes. GIGABYTE specifies a wait of 6–8 minutes; completion is indicated when the light stops flashing. Do not remove the drive or cut power during this process.

The board manual identifies the Q-Flash Plus button and dedicated rear port; use those marked locations rather than an arbitrary USB port. A few minutes of flashing activity alone does not establish that the process has failed.

If the update does not appear to start or finish

  • The utility cannot find the file: confirm the archive was extracted, that the BIOS is for the exact board revision, and that the media uses a supported file system. For Q-Flash Plus, verify the filename is exactly GIGABYTE.bin and the drive is in the dedicated rear port.
  • The Q-Flash Plus light is still flashing: allow the stated 6–8 minutes to pass. Do not interrupt the process solely because it has taken several minutes.
  • The process appears stuck or the system fails to start afterward: do not repeatedly remove power or attempt another flash while activity continues. Once the process is clearly no longer progressing, consult GIGABYTE’s support information for your exact revision or contact GIGABYTE support for recovery guidance.
