First identify what is missing: Samsung Cloud sync, a Samsung Cloud device backup, and Gallery photos or videos use different settings and do not behave the same way. For sync, check the Samsung account and the affected data toggle, then try Sync Now. For a device backup, check the automatic-backup conditions or run a manual backup. Gallery photos and videos are not backed up to Samsung Cloud.
Identify what is not syncing or backing up
Samsung treats ongoing sync and device backup as separate functions. Sync keeps selected data aligned across devices using the same Samsung account; a device backup saves selected categories so they can be restored later. Gallery media is a separate case.

Samsung India’s support article, updated October 1, 2026, describes sync this way: “Sync matches the data on all devices that are synced to Samsung Cloud and uses the same Samsung account.”
Fix Samsung Cloud sync
1. Check the Samsung account and sync setting
- Open Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud. Menus can vary by device, operating system version, and country; use Settings search for “Samsung Cloud” if that route is different.
- Confirm the phone is signed in to the Samsung account you use on the other device. Sync applies to devices using the same Samsung account.
- Open the sync controls and make sure the toggle for the missing data type is enabled.
- Tap Sync Now to request an immediate sync, then check the other device while signed in to the same account.
If the expected item is not listed, Samsung Cloud may not support it on that device or software version. Available functions vary by model, carrier, country, and operating system.

Fix a Samsung Cloud device backup
Try a manual backup first
- Open Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud (the precise menu path can differ).
- Choose Back up data and select the categories you want included.
- Tap Back up now and allow the process to finish.
Samsung Singapore’s backup guidance says files larger than 1 GB cannot be backed up to Samsung Cloud. It also notes that supported backup items vary by phone and operating system version, country, and carrier. The categories actually offered in your phone’s Samsung Cloud menu are the practical check for what that device can save.
Meet the automatic-backup conditions
Samsung Singapore says automatic backup requires all three of these conditions:

- The phone is charging.
- The screen is off.
- The phone is connected to Wi-Fi.
If one condition is not met, automatic backup may not run; use Back up now for an immediate manual attempt.
Restore data only if a backup exists
Restore does not create a backup; it retrieves data from an existing one. Samsung’s documented route is Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud > Restore data. Select an available backup, choose the items to restore, and tap Restore. The exact labels may vary by device and software version.

Samsung Singapore’s guidance says contacts and calendars configured with a Google account are not synchronized to Samsung Cloud. Check which account manages those items if they are missing from a Samsung Cloud backup or sync.
If the missing files are Gallery photos or videos
Samsung states that Gallery photos and videos cannot be backed up to Samsung Cloud. A device backup or Samsung Cloud sync is therefore not the fix for missing Gallery media.

For US users, Samsung says its Gallery sync with OneDrive feature ended September 30, 2026. As of October 4, 2026, do not look for a new Gallery-to-OneDrive setup as a current US fix; photos and videos already stored in OneDrive remain viewable in the OneDrive app. Samsung notes that Gallery features and settings can vary by carrier, software version, and country, so check local Samsung support for availability outside the US.

Samsung Cloud is accessed through the Samsung account in device Settings. Samsung US also describes signing in through a browser, with two-step verification possibly required. Its guidance says Samsung Cloud data may be deleted after more than 12 months without use and that Samsung provides advance notice. Check that you can access the correct account and review its backup status before concluding that data has disappeared.
