Important: JBL’s documented way to power off most Flip speakers without using the usual power-button shutdown is a factory reset. It erases settings and Bluetooth data, so you’ll need to pair your devices again. Check the model printed on the speaker before choosing a button combination.
Use the reset combination for your JBL Flip model
JBL says these combinations factory-reset the speaker and power it off. Start with the speaker on, then hold the buttons for the time shown.

- Check the model name on the speaker or its packaging.
- Turn the speaker on if it is off.
- Press and hold the matching button combination for longer than the listed time. The documented result is a factory reset followed by power-off.

What the reset changes
This is not a regular shutdown shortcut. JBL warns: “This action will erase all settings and Bluetooth data from the device.” Afterward, pair and connect your devices again.

If the combination does not work
The procedure depends on the listed buttons responding. For the original JBL Flip, the documented combination includes Power, so it does not bypass a failed power button. JBL’s instructions do not establish a separate, nondestructive way to shut down a Flip whose power button has failed. If a required button is also unresponsive, the documented combination may not work.
