Consider how you will attach and replace abrasives
The PCL406B’s hook-and-loop pad takes 5-inch random-orbit abrasives; the PCL401B uses an onboard clamp to hold quarter-sheet paper. Ryobi lists 10,000 OPM for the PCL406B and 14,000 OPM for the PCL401B. Those figures are specifications for different tools, not results from a matched test; they do not establish which removes material faster or leaves a better surface.
