Its documentation does not say that generated files are automatically detected. For vendored packages, whether they are checked depends on Go’s package loading and the paths selected for linting; godoc-lint does not document a specific policy for scanning the vendor/ tree.
Generated files: use configuration to exclude them
godoc-lint’s documentation recognizes auto-generated files as a case where adding inline disable directives may be unsuitable. It recommends using configuration to exclude such files instead. The standalone tool supports -include and -exclude regular-expression path patterns, and its configuration supports exclusions. See the godoc-lint documentation.
This is an exclusion mechanism, not evidence that godoc-lint automatically identifies generated files. The documentation does not promise that generated files are detected or skipped by default. If generated files are part of the selected input set, do not assume the tool will omit them unless you have configured an exclusion.
Exclude generated files in standalone use
The project documents .godoc-lint.yaml and .godoclint.yaml configuration files, including package-level configuration files found in subdirectories. Use the configuration file’s exclude key to list files or apply path patterns that match generated files. You can also use the CLI’s -exclude pattern option where appropriate.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
When using golangci-lint
godoc-lint is included in golangci-lint since v2.5.0, according to the project documentation. Configuration through golangci-lint uses a different format from standalone godoc-lint, so do not copy a standalone configuration file unchanged; consult the golangci-lint configuration documentation.
Vendored packages: the invocation and Go setup matter
The godoc-lint documentation gives godoclint ./... as the command to run over all Go packages, but it does not separately promise that this scans packages beneath vendor/. Go’s module reference explains that vendored source consists of package copies in the main module’s vendor/ directory and that Go commands may load packages from that directory when vendoring is enabled. That describes Go package loading, not a guarantee about godoc-lint’s traversal.

- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
As a result, do not assume that godoclint ./... checks every vendored dependency. The result depends on the Go version, module and vendoring mode, and the package patterns passed to the linter. The documentation leaves godoc-lint’s vendor-tree behavior unspecified.

Check your repository’s actual behavior
- Decide what you intend to lint. Checking your own packages that use vendored dependencies is different from linting dependency source copies inside
vendor/. - Run the documented package pattern. Use
godoclint ./...for the project’s documented all-packages invocation, without treating it as a promise of vendor-tree coverage. - If vendor sources must be linted, try an explicit package or path selection. Use a target appropriate to the repository’s Go and module setup, then verify that the expected vendored files are included in the run.
What to rely on
| Case | What the documentation establishes | Practical approach |
|---|---|---|
| Generated files | Configuration exclusions and CLI path filters are available; automatic generated-file detection is not documented. (godoc-lint documentation) | Configure an exclusion if generated files should be skipped; verify the selected inputs if they should be linted. |
| Vendored packages | The README documents godoclint ./... for all Go packages, but does not state whether that includes the vendor/ tree. Go’s vendoring behavior depends on its package-loading setup. (godoc-lint documentation; Go Modules Reference) |
Check the actual Go version, module mode, and package patterns; explicitly target vendor sources if they must be checked. |
