The offer is currently advertised at $0 for the first month, then $6.99 per month plus applicable taxes. You must activate Hulu separately, and some existing Hulu accounts cannot use the benefit.
What you get with Spotify Premium Student
One Spotify Premium account
The plan provides one verified Premium account—not a Duo or Family membership. Spotify describes Premium Student as including ad-free listening, offline listening, playlists and podcasts. See Spotify’s U.S. Student offer for the current feature and offer details.
Hulu (With Ads)
The current U.S. offer also includes access to Hulu (With Ads) at no extra plan charge. It does not include Hulu (No Ads), Hulu + Live TV or a premium network add-on. Hulu is a separate service: you watch through Hulu, not inside the Spotify app. Spotify can change partner services, so Hulu’s inclusion should be understood as part of the offer currently advertised, not a permanent guarantee.
Price, trial and how long the discount lasts
Spotify currently advertises one introductory month at $0, followed by $6.99 per month plus applicable taxes in the U.S. The trial is subject to offer eligibility; Spotify’s offer page includes conditions such as not having tried Premium before. Check the live offer before subscribing because prices and promotions can change.

The student discount can last up to four years, but it is not a single uninterrupted four-year approval: Spotify requires re-verification every 12 months. Its terms describe an initial 12-month discount period and up to three additional 12-month periods. After the maximum discount period, the account moves to the then-current full Premium price unless you cancel. Spotify Support explains the renewal requirement in its Premium Student support article; the Student Tier terms set out the discount periods.
Who is eligible and how verification works
For the U.S. offer, you must be over 18 and enrolled at an eligible Title IV-accredited higher education institution. Spotify uses SheerID to verify enrollment. You may be asked to sign in to your school portal or provide enrollment documentation; once verified, return to Spotify to subscribe. If your school does not appear in the verification form, it is not eligible through that application flow at that time.

Your Spotify account email does not have to be your student email. If you study abroad, Spotify says the account country or region must match the country where you study, and your payment method must have been issued there. Accepted payment methods vary by location, but mobile billing and billing through another company, such as a phone or internet provider, are not supported.
How to activate Hulu and check an existing account
- Subscribe to Premium Student after completing Spotify’s student verification.
- Open Spotify’s services page and choose the Hulu activation option.
- Sign in to an eligible Hulu account or create one, then complete activation. Hulu billing switches to Spotify during signup.
- Watch Hulu content in Hulu; the benefit does not add Hulu playback to Spotify.
An existing Hulu account may not qualify. Spotify’s terms exclude accounts with Hulu (No Ads), Hulu + Live TV, a premium network add-on or third-party billing such as Roku. Spotify Support also says the offer cannot be combined with other Hulu plans or add-ons. If an existing account is eligible, the terms do not provide a prorated credit or refund for the current Hulu billing month. If Hulu access is unavailable because your Hulu account fails its eligibility rules, the terms say you still pay the Premium Student price.

The terms also allow Hulu to put an account on an inactivity hold if no Hulu video is played for 14 days. You can reactivate it while you remain subscribed to the Student Tier.
What happens when you stop qualifying or cancel
Spotify requires student re-verification every 12 months to keep the discount. Spotify advertises that you can cancel at any time; under the terms, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current discounted month. If you reach the maximum discount period without cancelling, the subscription migrates to the then-full Premium price.

Is the plan a good fit?
Before enrolling, check the total monthly cost after the trial, whether your school and enrollment pass verification, and whether Hulu (With Ads) is useful to you. If you already pay for Hulu, confirm that your plan and billing arrangement meet the eligibility rules before assuming you can transfer it. Also consider whether you are comfortable with the full Premium price applying after the student discount ends if you do not cancel.
