There is an official adidas Originals x Metallica collection, but a matching Trefoil, band logo, or “Life Burns Faster” claim does not prove that a particular shirt is genuine. Check the seller and purchase records, compare the exact design with official adidas and Metallica listings, and document any concerns for adidas support. The official pages are useful references—not a definitive at-home authentication test.
Start with the seller and purchase trail
adidas Brasil advises buying through adidas’s online or physical stores, or its partners, as the best way to be sure of authenticity. An unfamiliar marketplace seller, social-media ad, or pop-up website is a reason to investigate provenance, not proof that an item is fake. Keep the listing, seller details, order confirmation, invoice, and receipt if available. adidas’s guidance is from Brazil; shoppers elsewhere should use adidas support for their own market.
Compare the exact item with official collection listings
adidas Canada identifies the adidas Originals x Metallica “Life Burns Faster” Tour Merch Collection as a combination of Trefoil heritage and Metallica’s visual identity (adidas Canada collection page). adidas US and the official Metallica store list examples of the collaboration, including ringer tees, raglan shirts, Cali tees, a crewneck, and youth or junior items (adidas US collection; Metallica official store). Availability, sizes, and product selection may change.

Compare the product name, garment type, graphic, colorway, and product images—not just the logos or collaboration name. A design that appears on an official page is a useful reference, but a third-party item that resembles it is not thereby authenticated. Conversely, the cited pages do not establish that every legitimate item must appear in the currently available selection.

Use product-page details as item-specific references
The official Metallica page for the red-logo ringer tee describes a white-and-red, 100% cotton shirt in sizes S–2XL, with soft single jersey and a loose fit. It says to wash cold, tumble dry low, turn the garment inside out, and avoid ironing the graphic (Metallica red-logo ringer T-shirt page). Those specifications describe that listed product only; they are not a checklist for every piece in the collaboration.
Compare evidence without treating one clue as proof
Look at the listing and garment together. Record any differences in the seller’s product name, graphic, colorway, cut, and images compared with the official references. Also retain photos of labels and packaging and any paperwork that came with the purchase. Consider all of this evidence as a whole rather than treating a single match or mismatch as conclusive.

The official materials cited here do not publish a Metallica-collaboration authentication checklist for tag codes, stitching, QR scans, or manufacturing details. - Save the evidence. Photograph the garment and exposed labels, packaging, and any invoice, receipt, or other documents. Keep the seller’s name, website or marketplace listing, and the physical-store address if applicable.
- Contact adidas support in your market. Share the evidence and explain where the item was bought or found. adidas Brasil specifically requests product photos (including exposed labels), packaging, purchase documents, and the store address or website when reporting suspected counterfeits (adidas Brasil counterfeit guidance).
- Keep seller and payment records. Retain your order and payment documentation while seeking help from the seller or the platform through which you purchased the item.
adidas’s cited guidance does not promise that support can conclusively authenticate every item or recover money from an unofficial seller. Its reporting instructions are specific to Brazil, so use the relevant local adidas support channel outside Brazil.
