For fewer routine battery changes and automatic time adjustment, choose the Bluetooth-equipped, solar-powered GA-B2100. Choose the traditional GA-2100 if you prefer a replaceable battery, want its 24-hour countdown timer, or value a case that is marginally thinner and lighter. This comparison focuses on those closest counterparts in Casio’s octagonal 2100 line; both are shock resistant and rated for 200 m water resistance.

What Bluetooth adds to the GA-B2100

The GA-B2100 links to Casio’s CASIO WATCHES app over Bluetooth Low Energy. Its main benefit is convenient timekeeping: Casio says the watch adjusts its time automatically four times a day. You can also use the app for watch settings, world time for about 300 cities, time-and-place logging, reminders, and finding a misplaced phone. Casio’s GA-B2100 product page describes the model’s features.

This is not a general-purpose smartwatch feature set. Casio’s documentation for this model does not establish phone-notification mirroring, music control, GPS tracking, or health tracking. The watch can still keep time without a live phone connection; the question is whether the app tools and automatic adjustment are useful enough to you.

GA-B2100 vs. GA-2100: the practical differences

Feature GA-B2100 (Bluetooth and solar) GA-2100 (traditional)
Time adjustment Bluetooth connection to the CASIO WATCHES app; automatic adjustment four times daily, according to Casio’s product page. No phone link; Casio lists accuracy of ±15 seconds per month.
Power Tough Solar. Casio specifies about seven months on a charged rechargeable battery with normal use and no further light exposure, or about 18 months in darkness with power saving enabled. Two SR726W batteries; Casio specifies an approximate three-year battery life.
App tools Easy setting, world time for about 300 cities, time-and-place log, reminders, and phone finder. No phone-app link.
Dimensions and weight 48.5 × 45.4 × 11.9 mm; 52 g. 48.5 × 45.4 × 11.8 mm; 51 g.
Water resistance 200 m / 20 bar. 200 m.
Countdown timer Maximum one hour. Maximum 24 hours.
World time on the watch 38 time zones; the app also offers about 300 cities. 31 time zones.

These are Casio-published specifications, not independent measurements. The solar runtime figures describe specified conditions, not a promise that every wearer will get the same duration. Solar charging reduces reliance on routine battery replacement, but it still depends on light and charge conditions and uses a rechargeable battery. See Casio’s April 14, 2022 GA-B2100 announcement for its published power-saving runtime and connectivity details.

Which model should you buy?

Choose the GA-B2100 if convenience matters more than simplicity

  • You want Tough Solar charging instead of a routine schedule for replacing disposable watch batteries.
  • You travel or change time zones often and would use automatic adjustment or app-based world-time settings.
  • You want the app’s reminders, time-and-place log, or phone-finding tool.

Choose the GA-2100 if its specific trade-offs fit you better

  • You prefer a conventional replaceable-battery watch and do not mind Casio’s approximate three-year battery-life specification.
  • You do not want to pair a watch with a phone or use companion-app features.
  • You rely on a countdown timer longer than one hour; the GA-2100’s listed maximum is 24 hours.
  • You prefer the slightly thinner and lighter model, while recognizing that the published difference is just 0.1 mm and 1 g.

Price, availability, and what the specifications do not tell you

Price and stock depend on region, retailer, colorway, and date. When Casio’s US comparison page was retrieved, it displayed $110 for the GA-2100-1A and $165 for the GA-B2100-1A, alongside “NOTIFY ME.” Those figures are a dated observation of that US page, not current or generally applicable prices. Check local listings for the exact model and color before deciding whether the Bluetooth and solar features justify any price difference. Casio’s US GA-2100 comparison page is the source for that page observation.

Casio’s specifications establish the listed features and dimensions, but they do not provide an independent comparison of real-world accuracy, comfort, durability, long-term solar performance, or app reliability. Both models have the same basic 200 m water-resistance rating; follow the relevant watch manual and care guidance for use and maintenance. Casio also describes the GA-B2100 as the first watch in the octagonal 2100 line to combine Smartphone Link and solar charging in its 2022 announcement.
