Ninja PREPi is a food-preparation and storage system designed for tasks such as chopping, slicing, shredding and dicing—not a greens washer or dryer. That is a difference in intended function, not the result of a head-to-head test.
What each product is designed to do
Salad spinner: rinse and remove water from leaves
A salad spinner combines a colander and a bowl with a basket that spins to remove water from greens after rinsing. Its purpose matches the job in the question: wash leaves, then dry them before serving or storing.
Ninja PREPi: process and store ingredients
SharkNinja describes PREPi PN301 as a prep-and-store system with a 500-watt motor base, 5-cup and 7-cup bowls, storage lids, a chop-and-purée blade, a reversible slice-and-shred disc, and a crinkle disc. The PN351 configuration adds a dicing kit. The manufacturer’s description lists food-processing and storage functions, not washing or drying greens. SharkNinja’s PREPi announcement gave launch-announcement starting prices of $179 for PN301 and $229 for the dicing model on SharkNinja.com from October 2, 2026; these are not live price checks.
Which should you choose?
- Choose a salad spinner if you want to remove rinse water from leafy greens. Match capacity to the amount you usually wash, and consider how much storage space it takes up.
- Consider PREPi if you want a system for chopping, puréeing, slicing, shredding, crinkle-cutting or dicing ingredients. Those functions may help with other salad preparation, but they do not replace spinning greens dry.
There is no controlled PREPi-versus-spinner test in the available sources. The recommendation follows from the stated functions of the products, rather than a measured comparison of their drying performance.

OXO Good Grips Large 6.22-Quart Salad Spinner
Food Network’s review, updated June 3, 2026, says it purchased and tested 12 salad spinners, including tests with mixed greens and cilantro, and names the OXO Good Grips Large 6.22-Quart Salad Spinner as its overall pick. The review also considers capacity, ease of cleaning and storage. This is a useful starting point if you want a general-purpose spinner, but it is Food Network’s review finding, not an independent test conducted for this article. Progressive Prepworks Collapsible 4-Quart
Food Network lists this model as an option for limited storage. Its review reports that it took longer to dry greens in testing than other models it considered—a trade-off to weigh against its collapsible design.

How to make the choice
- Start with the task. For washing and drying leaves, choose a salad spinner. For cutting or processing ingredients, PREPi is the relevant type of appliance.
- Estimate your usual batch. Choose a spinner with enough capacity for the greens you typically wash, rather than selecting by features alone.
- Check where it will live. If cupboard space is tight, a collapsible spinner may suit you, while accepting the longer drying time reported for the Prepworks model in Food Network’s testing.
- Decide whether extra uses matter. A spinner that also serves as a colander or bowl may be useful; Brabantia lists those functions for Tasty+.
