On a Samsung Galaxy phone already connected to the network, open Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi, tap the gear beside the connected network, then tap QR code. Have your guest scan the code and follow the prompt to connect.
Show the Wi-Fi QR code on your Samsung Galaxy
- On the Galaxy phone connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to share, open Settings.
- Tap Connections, then Wi-Fi.
- Tap the gear or settings icon beside the connected network.
- Tap QR code. Your phone may ask you to unlock its screen first.
- Show the QR code to your guest. They can scan it with a QR-capable camera or scanner, then tap the notification or link and follow the on-screen prompt to connect.
Samsung’s Singapore support instructions and Gulf support instructions give this same basic path. The sharing phone must already be connected to the network; it cannot display a QR code for a network it has not joined.
If the QR code option is missing or scanning fails
Samsung notes that screen layouts and setting names can differ by device and Android version. Try these checks in order:
- Check the connection: Confirm the Galaxy is connected to the intended Wi-Fi network, then open that network’s gear/settings page.
- Check model and software compatibility: Samsung’s Germany support page describes the feature as model dependent and available on Android Pie (9.0) or later. It identifies WPA/WPA2 PSK and WEP as supported security types, while open and EAP networks are unsupported.
- Try a different scan method: Ask the guest to scan with the camera or a QR scanner and tap the resulting prompt. Samsung’s Japan support page also describes QR Wi-Fi connection on Android 9 or later.
- Connect manually if needed: If the QR code cannot be read or the connection still fails, have the guest choose the network by its name (SSID) and enter its password. Samsung notes that recipient software versions and router or network restrictions can also affect QR connections in its Gulf guidance.
Keep the QR code private
A Wi-Fi QR code is convenient, but it is not a protected substitute for the password. Samsung Canada warns that QR codes are not encrypted and that anyone who obtains the code can determine the network password (Samsung support: Connect your Samsung Galaxy to the Internet). Show it only to people you intend to give network access to; do not post or forward it publicly. If the code has been exposed, changing the Wi-Fi password in your router settings is a general way to revoke access.
