What happens if you disable Google Play Store?
Disabling the Store turns off the preinstalled app; it is not the same as deleting the app or removing its updates. Google notes that some system apps cannot be deleted, while some can be turned off. The available controls and instructions depend on your phone’s manufacturer. Google Play Help
Because behavior varies by device, there is no guaranteed menu path or identical result for every Android phone. The official guidance does not establish that disabling Play Store automatically deletes other apps or their data.

How to turn the Store back on
If you disabled a built-in app, Google says it can be turned back on. When the Store remains accessible, Google’s documented route is Google Play → Manage apps & device → Manage; select the app and choose Enable. Labels can differ by device or software version. Google Play Help

If you cannot find that route because Play Store is disabled, check your phone’s app settings for the disabled-app control; the manufacturer determines the device-specific instructions. Google also says deleted apps can be added back, and apps bought on Google Play can be used on another Android device without paying again when you sign in with the same Google Account. How to reinstall Play Store updates
- Open your phone’s Settings and find Google Play Store in the list of apps, then open App info. The exact path to app details varies by manufacturer.
- Tap the top-right menu, choose Uninstall updates, and confirm.
- Open Play Store, then select Profile → Settings → About → Update Play Store.

Google Play Store is not Google Play services
Google Play Store is the app used to browse and manage apps. Google Play services is separate system software that connects apps to Google services and supports device functions. Google describes it as core system software on certified Android devices and says disabling it is not recommended because it may affect device performance. Do not treat disabling Play services as equivalent to disabling the Store. Android Help
Google’s warning about losing saved information applies to clearing Google Play services data, which may remove saved information such as passwords and payment or transit cards and require you to sign in or reauthenticate. It is not a stated consequence of disabling Google Play Store. Google Play Help
