Choose Key Light Air MK.2 for a lighter, more compact desk setup with USB-C or battery-bank power flexibility. If you are shopping for the original Key Light Air, note that it is legacy hardware—not the current Air model.

Choose Key Light for more output and a taller mount
Elgato lists Key Light at 2800 lumens, compared with up to 2100 lumens for Air MK.2. Its larger panel measures 350 × 250 mm, and the included mount adjusts from 55 to 125 cm. That makes it the more suitable starting point when you need a higher maximum output or want to position the light higher or farther away, provided you have room for the larger panel and mounting hardware.

- Touch and app control: adjust brightness and color temperature directly on the light; full control over USB or Wi-Fi via Elgato Control Center on desktop, tablet, or mobile
- Flexible power: USB-C from your laptop, a PD 3.0+ adapter for full output, or a battery bank on the MagSafe ring — three ways to power your light
- With desk mount and Stream Deck support: height-adjustable clamp from 60–88 cm; panel detaches for any rig; automate your light with a single keypress
Those figures describe published maximums, not a controlled real-world comparison. How much light reaches a subject depends on distance, placement, room conditions, and the brightness setting.
Choose Air MK.2 for a lighter desk setup and flexible power
Air MK.2 weighs 735 g for the light itself and has a 319 × 207 mm panel. Its mount adjusts from 60 to 88 cm, so it is the desk-focused choice when a lighter fixture and lower mounting range suit the space better. Its listed maximum is up to 2100 lumens.

- Wi-Fi Enabled: switch on/off and fine-tune light settings via the desktop app.
- 2800 Lumens: illuminate your entire workspace and dim down to a subtle glow.
- 2900 – 7000 K: change color temperature from sunset amber to arctic blue.
- 160 OSRAM LEDs: impressively low heat compared to soft boxes.
- Opal Glass Face: evenly balanced; glare-free diffusion.
Air MK.2 can use USB-C, a compatible power adapter, or a compatible battery bank. Elgato specifies a 30 W or higher power source for full brightness; a lower-powered source should not be assumed to provide the maximum output. See Elgato’s Air MK.2 product page for its power details.
When does the original Key Light Air make sense?
The original Air is a legacy option, rated at 1400 lumens with a square 205 × 205 mm panel and an included power adapter rated up to 25 W. Consider it only if the listing is clearly for that generation and its condition and price suit you. Confirm the exact model and support situation with the seller rather than relying on “Key Light Air” in a listing title.

Plus, with the Godox Light App or by setting matching channels and groups, you can control multiple ES45 key lights simultaneously, creating a full multi-light streaming studio.
What the specifications do—and don’t—tell you
Color temperature is comparable on paper
Elgato lists an adjustable 2900–7000 K color range for Key Light, original Air, and Air MK.2. That specification describes the available color-temperature range; it does not establish which will look better in a particular room or setup.
CRI figures for Key Light are inconsistent
Elgato’s comparison lists Key Light CRI above 92%, while its Key Light technical specifications list above 94%. Because the manufacturer’s pages conflict, neither figure supports a definitive CRI advantage over Air models. Check the current specification for the exact model before comparing color-rendering claims.

- Pick Key Light for its 2800-lumen listed maximum and 55–125 cm mount range, if its larger panel and mount fit your setup.
- Pick Key Light Air MK.2 for a lighter desk-focused fixture and USB-C or battery-bank power options, using a 30 W or higher source for full brightness.
- Consider the original Key Light Air as a clearly identified legacy product, not as another name for Air MK.2.
