If WoW Forever is missing from Battle.net, first check whether your account actually has beta access: opting in is not a guaranteed invitation. If the license is present, select the beta from World of Warcraft’s Game Version menu and install it there. For download or launch failures after access is confirmed, update Battle.net and your graphics driver, check available storage, and use Blizzard’s current troubleshooting guidance for your operating system and any error code.
Check whether your account has WoW Forever beta access
Signing up for the free beta puts you in the selection process; it does not guarantee an invitation or add a beta license to your account. Open Battle.net directly and check the account’s game licenses. An opt-in confirmation email alone is not proof that the beta is available.

If you qualified for access through a bundle purchase, make sure Battle.net is signed in to the account that made the purchase. Access can take up to 30 minutes to appear. If the license is still missing after that, fully close and restart the Battle.net app, then check again. Start the installation from the app rather than following an email link.

Install the beta from Battle.net
- Open the Battle.net desktop app and sign in to the account with the beta license.
- Select World of Warcraft.
- Open the Game Version menu above the Play button.
- Under In Development, select World of Warcraft: Forever Beta, then click Install.
- When installation finishes, click Play and choose an available test realm.
These are Blizzard’s published beta installation steps; consult its WoW Forever beta announcement if the launcher labels or availability have changed.
Troubleshoot a failed download or installation
If the beta license is confirmed but installation will not start or complete, work through these basic checks. They are triage steps, not a diagnosis of any one cause.

- Update Battle.net. Restart the app and allow it to apply any available update.
- Check free storage. Make sure the drive selected for installation has enough available space for the client and its updates.
- Update your graphics driver. This is also relevant if installation completes but the client will not start or display correctly.
- Use Blizzard’s current technical guidance. Check its Common Technical Issues and Solutions for the exact error code and your operating system; beta and launcher troubleshooting can change.
Troubleshoot a client that will not launch
If Battle.net’s Play button changes briefly to “Launching” and then returns to “Play” without showing an error, record that exact behavior instead of assuming a particular fix applies. A September 19, 2026 forum report described this symptom, but the reviewed thread did not establish a general remedy.
When basic checks do not help, give Blizzard support useful details: your operating system, the client build shown by the launcher, the exact error message or silent-launch behavior, and the steps you have already tried. A concise symptom record can help distinguish a launcher problem from a client or system issue.

Check current build notes for known beta issues
Beta fixes are specific to a client build. Blizzard’s September 23, 2026 notice for 1.60.1 Build 69977 identified fixes for some Mac display and stability issues. That notice does not establish that the update resolves every Mac problem or issues on other platforms. Check Battle.net for the current client update and Blizzard’s beta client update notes before deciding whether a symptom is covered.
