If notifications are missing altogether, check the app’s notification permissions and whether it is in Deep sleeping status. Start by deciding which symptom you have; the two problems point to different settings.
First, tell whether notifications are silent or missing
Wait for a normal notification or trigger a harmless test alert, then check the notification shade. If the alert appears there but you hear nothing, follow the silent-alert checks below. If it does not appear, follow the missing-notification checks. If the problem affects only one app, focus on that app’s settings; if it affects every app, check device-wide sound and notification controls first.
Samsung notes that menu names, paths, and screen layouts can vary by device model, software version, and One UI version. If a setting is not where the steps below indicate, search for its name in Settings.
Fix notifications that appear but have no sound
1. Make sure the phone is not muted
Open Settings > Sounds and vibration and check Sound mode. Samsung distinguishes Sound, Vibrate, and Mute; Mute disables audible alerts. Choose Sound if you want notification sounds.

2. Raise notification volume
Go to Settings > Sounds and vibration > Volume and raise Notifications. This slider is separate from ringtone, media, and system volume, so turning up media or ringtone volume may not make notifications audible.
3. Check the affected app’s notification category
An app can be allowed to send notifications while one particular category is silent or disabled. In Settings, open Notifications > Advanced settings and turn on Manage notification categories for each app if that option is available. Then return to Notifications > App notifications, select the app, and open the relevant category. Confirm notifications are allowed and that a sound is selected; check Alert and Show as pop-up if you also need to see the alert on screen.

4. Check Do Not Disturb
Open Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb. Turn it off temporarily to see whether it is suppressing the sound. If you use Do Not Disturb, review its app exceptions and schedule instead: the mode can block sounds and notifications according to those settings.
5. Turn off Mute all sounds
Open Settings > Accessibility > Hearing enhancements and check Mute all sounds. Turn it off if enabled. Samsung says this setting mutes notifications as well as other audio, and can prevent ordinary volume adjustment.

Fix notifications that do not appear
1. Allow notifications for the app
Go to Settings > Notifications > App notifications, select the app, and enable Allow notifications. Review the display and alert controls shown on that screen too.
2. Allow the relevant notification category
If category controls are not visible, enable Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings > Manage notification categories for each app, where available. Then open the app under Notifications > App notifications and check that the category for the missing alert is allowed. Its Alert and Show as pop-up settings affect how it is presented.

3. Check whether the app is Deep sleeping
Look in the device’s app or battery management settings for the app’s Deep sleeping status. Samsung warns that notifications may not appear while an app is in Deep sleeping status. If you want alerts from that app, allow notifications and remove it from Deep sleeping using the controls available on your device.
4. Review Do Not Disturb
Check Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb for an active schedule or settings that suppress the alert. Review exceptions if you want some notifications to get through while the mode is on.

If other sounds are missing too
If calls, media, and system sounds are also affected, the issue may extend beyond notification settings. Recheck Sound mode, volume levels, and Accessibility > Hearing enhancements > Mute all sounds, then restart the Galaxy device. Samsung identifies a temporary system error as one possible cause of sound problems and recommends restarting; that alone does not establish a hardware fault.
If the broader sound problem continues after those checks and a restart, contact Samsung Support or a Samsung service center for model-specific help.
