A phone wristlet is a carry strap, not a stand: attach it to a compatible case or adapter, check the connection, and keep the strap clear of the display. If you need hands-free viewing, use a separate stable stand or screen-facing cradle.
What a phone wristlet does—and does not do
A wristlet is a short strap attached to a phone or case and worn around the wrist. It helps keep the phone attached while you carry or hold it. PopSockets describes its wristlet and case adapter on its product page; Moshi likewise presents its Wristlet Phone Strap as a carry accessory.
A hanging wristlet does not prop up the phone or provide hands-free viewing. A screen-facing wrist or forearm cradle is a different accessory type; a retailer guide describes that distinction, but it is product guidance rather than independent performance testing (Holderphone guide).
Attach and check the wristlet before carrying the phone
- Check compatibility. Confirm that the strap, adapter, and case are designed to work together. Do not assume that every case has the right opening or that an adapter fits every phone model. Moshi says its strap was originally designed for Altra iPhone cases and notes that some strap adapters work with it; PopSockets provides compatibility details for its own products.
- Use the attachment method for your accessory. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions rather than improvising. For Apple’s Wrist Strap and Crossbody Strap system, Apple instructs users to thread the connector through compatible case openings and secure it. PopSockets’ wristlet uses its supplied T-shaped adapter. See Apple’s attachment and adjustment instructions and the relevant manufacturer’s directions for other products.
- Inspect the connection before relying on it. Check that the connector is secured to the case and that the case itself is properly fitted. Apple Support’s instruction for its straps is: “Make sure the connectors are securely attached.”
Keep the strap clear while using the screen
Hold the phone normally and position the strap to the side or below the case attachment point so it does not cross the display or interfere with touch controls. Keep any adapter or grip outside the active screen area as well. Attachment points vary by product, so arrange the strap according to its design rather than pulling it across the front of the phone.

If the strap repeatedly falls over the display, move it aside before reading, tapping, or taking a photo. A wristlet is not a screen protector or a stand, and keeping it clear of the screen does not establish that a particular attachment has been safety-tested.
Choose a separate support for hands-free viewing
If the phone needs to remain upright while you watch, read, or follow directions, set it in a stable phone stand or a screen-facing cradle. Check that the phone stays secure in the orientation you intend to use and on the surface where you place it. A wristlet can remain attached as a carry accessory, but it should not hang from the phone as a substitute for support.

Some grips combine a strap with stand positions, but their stand function is product-specific. For example, one grip maker advises stopping use if its product does not fit or feels uncomfortable and cautions against using its vertical stand when the device is unstable (PopSockets FAQ).

- Use the wristlet only with a case or adapter the manufacturer identifies as compatible; fit varies by accessory.
- Stop using an attachment that does not fit securely or feels uncomfortable. A strap that is awkward to wear or whose connection is uncertain is not a dependable carry setup.
- Apple says its Wrist Strap and Crossbody Strap contain magnets that may interfere with medical devices. This warning applies to those Apple products; it should not be generalized to every wristlet.
Product pages establish designs and stated compatibility, not universal fit, drop protection, or comparative safety. No independent safety or drop-rate figures are established for wristlets generally.
