Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallIf websites keep repeating “verify you’re not a robot,” check the browser and network before assuming anything is wrong with your account. Update your browser, make sure JavaScript works, temporarily test without extensions, and compare another browser or trusted network. Those checks can reveal whether the problem follows one browser, one connection, or just one website.
Why verification checks keep appearing
A repeated prompt does not prove that you are a bot. Verification providers and websites assess requests using signals related to the browser, connection, and activity they detect. A challenge can repeat because a browser feature or extension interferes, a network is associated with unusual traffic, or a website’s security rules or verification setup is not working as intended. Google reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare are separate services, and other sites may use different systems, so the cause and remedy can vary.
Google explains how reCAPTCHA is used; Cloudflare explains how its challenges work.
Work through these checks in order
- Identify the challenge and note what happens. Check whether the page names reCAPTCHA, Cloudflare, or another provider. Record the website, time, exact error wording, whether you completed the check, and any visible error code or Ray ID. The provider matters: guidance for one service may not apply to another.
- Update your browser. Google says reCAPTCHA supports the two most recent major versions of the browser families it names, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Chromium-based Edge, and certain mobile browsers. Check Google’s current browser requirements for the applicable list. Cloudflare also recommends an up-to-date supported browser and says Internet Explorer is unsupported for its challenges; see its browser troubleshooting guidance.
- Check that JavaScript is enabled. Both Google’s reCAPTCHA checkbox and Cloudflare challenges can fail when JavaScript is unavailable or blocked. Google’s checkbox troubleshooting steps include enabling JavaScript.
- Temporarily disable extensions that affect page scripts. Ad blockers, privacy or script-blocking tools, and extensions that change browser signals can interfere with a challenge. Disable them briefly, reload the page, and see whether the result changes. If it does, turn them back on one at a time to identify the conflict, then adjust or remove only the extension responsible. Google advises disabling conflicting plugins; Cloudflare also recommends a temporary extension test in its challenge troubleshooting guide.
- Compare a private window or another browser. Try the same page in a private window, then in another supported browser if needed. If it works there, the difference narrows the issue to the original browser profile, its settings, stored state, or extensions; it does not by itself identify which one. Cloudflare also recommends comparing another device or network when troubleshooting persistent challenge failures.
- Compare networks, and test without a VPN or proxy if appropriate. If safe for your situation, briefly disconnect from a VPN or proxy and retry. You can also try a different trusted connection, such as a mobile hotspot. VPNs, proxies, and shared connections can affect challenges or be associated with unusual-traffic checks, but changing networks is a diagnostic test, not a guaranteed fix. Google’s unusual-traffic guidance discusses VPNs and shared network traffic; Cloudflare covers VPN and proxy interference in its challenge troubleshooting guidance.
Use the pattern to narrow down the cause
Change one condition at a time where possible, and compare the same website. The patterns below help identify what to investigate next; they are clues, not proof of a specific cause.

| What changes the result? | What it suggests | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Another browser or private window works on the same device and network | The issue is more likely tied to the original browser profile, settings, stored state, or extensions. | Keep the working comparison and test the original browser’s extensions and relevant settings individually. |
| Several devices fail on one network, but work on a different trusted network | Network conditions or the connection’s reputation may be involved. | Check whether a VPN or proxy is in use; if it is a managed or shared connection, ask its administrator for help. |
| One website fails across browsers, devices, and networks | A problem with that site’s challenge rules or integration becomes more plausible. | Contact the site and provide the details listed below. |
| Many websites fail only in one browser | A browser-level setting, compatibility issue, or extension conflict becomes more plausible. | Confirm the browser is current, JavaScript is available, and extensions are not blocking the challenge. |
When to contact the website or network administrator
Contact the website for a site-specific loop
If one site still repeats the check after the browser and network comparisons, contact that site’s support or administrator. Google notes that a site may have incorrectly integrated reCAPTCHA; Cloudflare advises visitors with persistent challenge problems to contact the website administrator. Neither explanation should be assumed to apply to every failure.
Include the site address, approximate time, browser and device, whether the challenge was completed, the exact error, and whether another browser or network changed the result. If a Cloudflare page shows an error code or Ray ID, include it; Cloudflare specifically asks for that information when reporting persistent issues.

Escalate persistent Google unusual-traffic warnings
If Google Search specifically reports unusual traffic and the warning continues, Google advises checking for malware and asking a network administrator or IT professional to investigate automated activity on a shared network. If the issue remains, contact your internet service provider. This guidance is for Google’s unusual-traffic warning, not a general explanation for every CAPTCHA loop.
