After that, choose two-way or four-way privacy based on how you hold your phone, and consider the effect on screen brightness and clarity. An alignment tray can help with installation, but it cannot correct a model mismatch.
1. Match the protector to your exact phone model
Start with the phone’s full model name and screen variant, using the device settings or documentation if needed. Compare that information with the protector’s explicit compatibility list. A similar model name, brand, or display size is not proof of a fit.
For example, Spigen’s product pages list supported device variants and dimensions for the products they cover. Check the current listing for your exact phone rather than assuming those details apply to another variant: Spigen GLAS.tR EZ Fit Privacy.
2. Check clearance for your particular case
A protector can fit the phone but still conflict with a case that overlaps or presses tightly against the glass edges. Check the protector maker’s case-compatibility statement, then compare it with how your case covers the screen perimeter.

ESR says its UltraFit protectors leave space for most cases, but warns: “If your case wraps tightly around the edges, it may interfere with the protector.” See ESR’s case-compatibility guidance. If your case has a tight lip, look for explicit confirmation that the two products work together or choose a protector designed with case clearance.
Be precise about the scope of compatibility claims. Spigen’s statement that its protector is “Made case compatible with every Spigen case” refers to Spigen cases; it does not establish fit with every third-party case. If the listing does not name your case or provide clear edge-clearance guidance, treat compatibility as unconfirmed.

3. Choose privacy for the directions you need
Two-way filters limit side views, while four-way filters are designed to limit views from the sides as well as from above and below. Consider where people might see your screen and whether you use your phone in portrait, landscape, or both orientations.

4. Weigh privacy against screen visibility
A privacy filter can make the screen look darker or reduce clarity, so consider how you normally use your phone—for example, in bright surroundings or at lower brightness. Manufacturer statements about coatings or brightness adjustments are guidance for their own products, not independent comparative test results.
Belkin states that its covered UltraGlass 2 Privacy filter narrows the viewing angle to 30° in portrait mode and describes an anti-reflective coating intended to help maintain clarity. That 30° figure is a claim for that product, not a universal privacy-filter specification; see Belkin’s support information. ESR says increasing brightness may help if its covered filter makes the display look dark, and describes its 180-degree product as blocking side views at angles greater than 28° in portrait mode. 5. Use installation features without confusing them with fit
An alignment tray or installation guide can make it easier to place a compatible protector evenly. It does not make a protector designed for a different phone model fit yours. Spigen lists an EZ Fit tray for its covered products, and Belkin describes alignment systems for products in its range: Spigen product details and Belkin support.
- Confirm the protector listing names your exact phone model and screen variant.
- Clean and prepare the screen as the manufacturer instructs, then use the included alignment tool if provided.
- After installation, check that the protector sits flat and that no edges are lifted.
- Fit your case carefully. If it pushes up an edge, remove it and check for a case-clearance conflict rather than pressing harder.
What to verify before buying
- Phone: Exact model and screen variant appear in the protector’s compatibility list.
- Case: The listing’s case-compatibility claim covers your case, or its edge design leaves suitable clearance.
- Privacy: Two-way or four-way coverage and portrait or landscape behavior suit your use.
- Visibility: You are comfortable with the possible reduction in brightness or clarity.
- Installation: Instructions or an alignment system are included if you want help placing the protector.
Product listings and compatibility lists can change, and the examples above are manufacturer guidance rather than independent fit tests. Recheck the live listing for the precise phone and case combination you plan to use.
