If money from a crypto sale has not reached your bank, first check the exchange’s transaction details and identify which step is delayed: the sale, the fiat withdrawal, or the bank’s posting. Read the exact status and compare the elapsed time with the estimate for your payment method. Do not repeat the withdrawal until you know what happened to the original request.
First, identify which kind of transfer you made
“Crypto transfer” can mean two different things. You may have sold cryptocurrency for cash on an exchange and then withdrawn that cash to your bank, or you may have sent cryptocurrency over a blockchain to another wallet or exchange. The checks differ: an ordinary fiat bank payment does not have a blockchain transaction hash to follow.
A cash-out can also involve several separate stages: selling the crypto, making the proceeds available in your exchange balance, processing the fiat withdrawal, and the bank crediting the payment. Coinbase says a sale to its cash balance is instant minus any holds, but the later cash-out timing depends on the payment method and is estimated in business days. Check the transaction record and exact status
- Open the exchange’s official app or website. Go to its activity, transaction history, or withdrawal details and open the specific request.
- Confirm what was sent. Check whether the record is a fiat withdrawal to a bank or an on-chain crypto withdrawal.
- Record the details. Note the exact status, initiation date and time (including time zone), amount and currency, payment method, destination account, and any transaction or reference number.
- Compare elapsed time with the displayed estimate. If the provider gives an estimate in business days, count business days rather than calendar days. A request made late in the day may not begin processing until the next business day; weekends and bank holidays can also affect timing.
Status labels are provider-specific, so use the exchange’s definition rather than assuming that “completed” means the bank has posted the money. Coinbase notes that cash-out processing estimates use business days and can vary by payment method; its guidance also explains that a late-day request may begin the next business day: Coinbase payment-method guidance.

Kraken status labels are an example, not a universal rule
Kraken’s cash-withdrawal guide distinguishes statuses by stage. A withdrawal marked “Pending” is still being processed in Kraken’s systems; “Sending” means it has been processed there; “Confirming” means it has reached the funding provider; “Success” means it was sent to that provider. “On hold” indicates manual review, while “Failure” means the withdrawal failed. Check Kraken’s current definitions and instructions because methods and rules can change: Kraken withdrawal statuses.
That guide gives Kraken-specific escalation thresholds: contact support if “Sending” or “Confirming” lasts more than one business day, if “Success” has not resulted in received funds within five business days, or if the withdrawal is on hold or failed. These are Kraken support thresholds, not general bank-settlement guarantees.

Before escalating, check the bank details and calendar
- Verify the bank information saved with the exchange, including the destination account and any required beneficiary or payment-reference details.
- Check whether a weekend or banking holiday falls within the expected processing period.
- Look for an account hold or a request for additional review in the exchange account.
Kraken’s delayed funding guidance recommends checking the withdrawal status, banking information, and holidays before contacting support: Kraken: Why has my deposit or withdrawal not arrived?. Guidance there about missing references for deposits into Kraken concerns money going to an exchange; it does not mean a bank cash-out follows the same process.
Check whether the exchange reports an incident
Visit the exchange’s official status page and look for an incident matching your actual fiat currency, withdrawal method, or relevant asset/network. Note when it began, what service it affects, and whether it is still under investigation or marked resolved. A crypto-network incident does not, by itself, show that fiat bank payouts are affected. Likewise, an overall “operational” label cannot rule out a delay at a particular payment provider.

Kraken’s status page publishes dated service incidents and updates: Kraken status. Status information can change, so check the current entry rather than relying on an old notice.
Contact the party that can trace the payment
If the estimate or the provider’s stated support threshold has passed, contact the exchange through the support channel in its official app or website. Share the transaction reference, date and time with time zone, amount and currency, payment method, and a screenshot of the status. Provide bank details only through a secure channel and only as requested.

Ask whether the exchange has sent the withdrawal to its funding provider. If it has, request the payment trace or reference number. If the exchange confirms dispatch and supplies that information but your bank cannot find the payment, contact the bank through its official phone number or secure banking channel and give it the reference. If the exchange has not sent the funds, the exchange is the appropriate first contact; the receiving bank may not be able to see a payment that has not been dispatched.
Do not give anyone claiming to recover delayed funds your password, one-time passcode, recovery phrase, or remote access to your device.

If you actually sent crypto over a blockchain
For a transfer to another wallet or exchange, check the sending platform’s withdrawal record for the transaction ID or hash, then use the relevant blockchain explorer to see whether it was broadcast and confirmed. This is a different path from a fiat withdrawal to a bank.

- Not confirmed: Follow the sending platform’s instructions; it may advise waiting for network confirmation or contacting its support team.
- Confirmed but not credited: Contact the destination wallet or exchange with the transaction hash. The destination platform may need to investigate crediting.
