Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Start by deciding whether you want full steam cooking, conventional oven cooking with added steam, or both. If one appliance needs to handle steaming and everyday baking or roasting, compare combi-steam ovens first. A steam-assist feature may add moisture to conventional cooking without offering a standalone steam mode, so check the exact model’s functions before buying.
1. Choose the right type of steam oven
Product names can blur important differences. Confirm what the appliance actually cooks, rather than relying on the word “steam” in its description.
- Steam-only: Uses steam as its cooking method. It can suit a household whose priority is steaming, but may not replace a conventional oven for baking and roasting.
- Combi-steam: Combines steam with conventional heat, letting you use either or both. Depending on the model, this can cover steaming as well as baking and roasting. Bosch describes combination steam ovens separately from its added-steam models (Bosch’s steam oven buying guide).
- Steam-assist or added steam: Adds moisture during conventional oven cooking. Do not assume it can steam vegetables or fish by itself: Bosch says its steam-assist models are not suitable for steaming.
For example, Gorenje describes combination models for baking, steaming, or both, with possible uses such as roasting, reheating, proofing, and sous-vide. Available modes vary by model (Gorenje’s steam oven overview).
2. Check that the oven fits your kitchen
Measure the cabinet niche and check the installation sheet for the specific model and country. Also consider the door’s opening direction and swing, required clearances, and whether the oven can be reached comfortably in its planned position. Do not treat dimensions from one market as universal standards.

Formats illustrate why the exact specification matters: Bosch’s guide describes combination formats of 60 × 60 cm and 60 × 45 cm (width × height), while Miele’s US catalog lists 24-inch and 30-inch models. These are examples from different markets, not interchangeable sizing conventions. Miele’s US catalog also shows variation among combi-steam models, including options such as roast probes and DirectWater (Miele’s US steam oven catalog).

- Powerful Steam & Fast Heating: Love moist, flavorful meals? Its rapid steam and steam convection functions lock in juiciness for seafood, chicken, and bread—no dry results here. The 33.8oz large water tank means no frequent refills mid-cook, and the efficient convection system heats up fast, cutting down preheating time compared to traditional ovens.
- Hassle-Free Use & Easy Maintenance: Busy schedules? No problem. The programmable timer lets you set it and forget it, while intuitive controls and preset menus mean zero steep learning curves. Plus, the built-in steam clean function takes the hassle out of cleanup—it easily cuts through tough grease stains that usually stick to oven interiors, so you won’t spend hours scrubbing. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, this oven keeps daily use and maintenance simple.
- More Than Just Baking—Everyday Practicality: This oven goes beyond basic cooking: ferment dough for fresh bread, dehydrate homemade snacks, sterilize baby bottles, or warm meals to keep them ready. It replaces multiple small appliances (air fryer, steamer, dehydrator, toaster) in one, saving counter space and justifying its cost—exactly the value you want.
- Everything You Need to Cook Is Included: The 25.4QT convection oven comes with all essentials to start cooking instantly: 1 Nosh Oven Pro, 1 air fryer basket, 1 baking pan, 1 oven rack, 1 water tank, 1 oven mitt, and 1 CIARRA Recipe Book. No extra buys required—just unbox and go.
- Reservoir: A tank-fed design can avoid a fixed water connection. Bosch describes this as an installation option; check the tank’s location and how accessible it is for filling.
- Direct water connection: Some models offer a plumbed option. Miele’s US catalog lists DirectWater variants, but availability depends on the model.
- Drainage and utilities: Check whether the model needs a drain, accessible shutoffs, a specific electrical circuit, or hardwiring. Gaggenau’s US listing for one 30-inch model specifies hardwiring and includes niche-planning details; those requirements should not be generalized to other ovens (Gaggenau GS460720 product listing).
Give the installation documents to your installer before cabinetry or utility work is finalized. A qualified local installer can confirm whether your kitchen meets the model’s requirements.
4. Match the cooking modes and controls to your routine
Make a short list of the tasks you expect the oven to perform, then verify each one on the exact model. Useful features may include full steam, convection, combined heat and steam, adjustable humidity, a temperature probe, sous-vide, reheating, proofing, or guided programs. These are not standard features across the category.

- All-in-One Functionality: Combines steaming, baking, roasting, and air frying in a single unit. Additional modes include keeping warm, fermentation, soup making, steam cleaning, drying, and descaling—ideal for users seeking space-saving versatility.
- Dual-zone temperature control with 360° convection allows independent heating in upper and lower zones using 1800W tubes. The system circulates hot air evenly, ensuring consistent results from crisp pizza to soft cakes. With precise ±1℉/℃ control, it reduces heat fluctuations and maintains a stable cooking environment, improving accuracy and overall performance.
- Four Steam Modes with Precision Humidity Control: Featured Quick Steam, Standard Steam, Tender Steam, and Over-Temperature Steam. Supported by Dynamic Steam Balance Technology, it maintains optimal humidity to preserve nutrients while preventing sogginess.
- 50 Preset Cooking Menus: The oven features 50 curated preset menus, enabling users to prepare a variety of dishes with minimal effort. Each program is optimized for specific ingredients and techniques, from steaming seafood to baking desserts and air-frying snacks. - Hygienic and User Friendly Design: The oven features a 304 food-grade stainless steel cavity with a ceramic-coated back panel that resists grease and is easy to clean. The foldable bottom heating tube lifts for effortless removal of crumbs and oil. A directional steam vent protects nearby cabinetry from moisture, while the external water tank allows easy refills without pausing cooking. The triple-layer glass window remains cool and offers clear visibility, while the control knob enables smooth switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Gaggenau’s GS460720 is one example of a model with selectable humidity settings of 0%, 30%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, plus a connection for a core-temperature probe. Gaggenau’s cooking guide explains uses for its humidity settings and specifies vacuum-sealed bags for its sous-vide mode. These are model-specific capabilities and instructions, not guarantees for other ovens (Gaggenau GS460720 product listing; Gaggenau’s steam oven cooking guide).
5. Evaluate capacity and day-to-day workflow
Nominal width does not tell you whether the oven will handle your usual cookware or batch sizes. Check the usable cavity dimensions, rack positions, and the sizes of trays and pans that fit. Ask how many racks can be used for the modes you plan to cook with, and whether perforated or solid steam pans are included or sold separately.

- 4° DOME ANTI-DRIP - Above the inner cavity of multifunctional steam oven is a 4° curved dome, which allows steam condensation to flow down from both sides without dripping onto food, maintaining ingredients‘ original form without affecting their appearance and taste.
- HIGH TEMP STEAM CLEANING & FOUR CONSTANT TEMP FERMENTATION - Convection steam oven can be turned on in high-temperature steam mode to easily sanitize cookware. Four temp fermentation function from 85-115℉ is surprising: 85℉, initial dough fermentation; 95℉, secondary dough fermentation; 105℉, for wine; 115℉, for yogurt.
Think through routine use, too: where the water tank sits, how it is accessed, and how often you may need to refill it. A compact oven may suit a smaller kitchen, but only if its usable space works for your household’s regular meals.

Compare the upkeep as carefully as the cooking features. Check how the manufacturer instructs you to handle residual water, dry the cavity, clean the oven, and descale the steam generator. Confirm which products are approved, how often maintenance is required, whether descaling supplies are included, and whether compatible consumables are readily available.
