Before printing a Google review QR code in quantity, scan the code from the intended Business Profile and test a full-size printed proof. Confirm both that the code opens the right business’s review flow and that a customer’s phone can read it in the final design.
Get the review QR code from the correct Google Business Profile
- On a computer, open the Google Business Profile for the business you want customers to review. Google’s current instructions say the QR code can be generated in a computer browser, not on a mobile device. Google’s review-link and QR-code instructions explain the workflow.
- Select Read Reviews, then Get more reviews. Copy the review link or save the QR image shown. Google may change the wording or placement of these controls over time.
Scan the digital code before designing the print
Display the saved QR image on your computer screen and scan it with a phone. Check that the destination identifies the business you intended and leads toward that business’s review flow. A successful scan alone is not enough: a code can be readable but point to the wrong profile.
If it opens the wrong business or does not reach the expected review flow, return to the intended profile, get a fresh link or QR code, and scan again. This is a practical validation step; Google describes how to create and download the code but does not prescribe this testing sequence.
Test a printed proof at its final size
- Place the QR code in the planned design and print one sample at the size and on the material you intend to use.
- Take the proof to the setting where customers will encounter it. Scan from the distance and under the lighting likely at that location.
- Confirm that a phone camera reads the printed code and that the resulting page still leads to the correct review flow.
- If either check fails, adjust the code’s size, contrast, placement, or surrounding artwork, then print and test another proof before ordering the full batch.
Google says businesses can print and display the code in-store, but its help page does not specify required dimensions, contrast levels, or a testing standard. The proof is useful because it checks the actual printed design and setting, not just the QR image on a screen.

Choose a format that fits where customers will see the request
Google lists receipts, thank-you emails, chat interactions, and in-store displays as ways to share a review request. Choose based on where the customer is likely to encounter it, the space available, and whether staff can keep a displayed code current. A printed counter sign or tabletop display is optional; you can use Google’s QR image without buying a display accessory.
Invite honest feedback and follow Google’s review rules
Ask customers to share an honest review after a genuine experience, without requesting a particular star rating. Google says reviews must reflect genuine experiences and prohibits offering free or discounted goods or services in exchange for reviews. The prohibition also applies to incentives for changing or removing a review. See Google’s Maps user-generated content policy.

Customers must be signed in to a Google Account to leave a review. Google says the account does not have to use a Gmail address; see Google’s instructions for sharing a review link or QR code.
