To reduce duplicate and noisy stock watchlist alerts, audit the rules attached to each symbol, remove stale or overlapping triggers, make the remaining conditions more selective, and then adjust notification delivery separately. Alert definitions decide what prompts an alert; app, browser, and device settings decide how it reaches you.

Why am I getting repeated stock alerts?

Several active rules can notify you about the same symbol or market move—for example, multiple price targets near one another or separate rules delivered through the same channel. A broad watchlist rule can also generate many notifications if it covers numerous symbols. These are possibilities to check in your own setup, not a claim that duplicate alerts are common across users.

Alert triggers and notification preferences are separate controls. Turning off a general push-notification category may not disable every custom alert, so review both the rules and the delivery settings that apply to them.

How to audit and remove duplicate stock alerts

  1. List the active alerts for each symbol. Record what each one watches—such as a price level, percentage move, news, earnings, or a technical condition—and its delivery channel.
  2. Compare what each rule would notify you about. Flag exact duplicates and rules likely to alert on the same event, such as nearby price thresholds that serve the same purpose.
  3. Delete stale rules and consolidate overlap. Keep the alert that best matches your intended decision, and remove rules that no longer matter. If one threshold can do the job, you may not need several overlapping ones.
  4. Make each retained rule decision-relevant. Set a threshold you would actually act on or revisit, and remove symbols or categories that do not need monitoring.
  5. Review delivery settings separately, then verify one alert. Keep only the channels and categories you want. Check the app as well as relevant phone or browser permissions, and confirm that a retained alert has the correct symbol, condition, and delivery route.

If the service offers a choice between one-time and recurring triggers, consider whether you need repeat notifications after the condition first occurs. The available choices and their behavior vary by platform.

Where to manage alerts in Yahoo Finance

Android: review custom price alerts

Yahoo’s Android help describes creating a custom price alert from a stock quote by entering a target price, and viewing existing price alerts. Use the existing-alert view as part of your inventory, then remove or revise rules that are no longer useful using the controls available in your current app. See Yahoo’s Android instructions for custom price alerts.

iOS: edit or delete a price target

Yahoo’s iOS help documents editing a target price or deleting an alert through the stock quote’s alert controls. That gives you a direct way to clean up a stale target; check each symbol you follow for rules you no longer need. See Yahoo’s iOS instructions for managing custom price alerts.

Separate push and browser preferences from custom alerts

Yahoo’s iOS instructions show app settings for toggling push alerts. Its web notification settings separate categories such as price alerts and company news, and state that those general settings do not affect custom price alerts. Check the relevant control for the alert type you want to change rather than assuming one broad toggle covers everything: Yahoo’s iOS push-notification instructions and Yahoo Finance notification settings.

App labels and behavior can change, and controls may differ by operating system, market, or app version. Treat these as platform-specific examples and follow the current controls shown in your own account.

TradingView: what happens when alerts trigger too often

TradingView’s Help Center, accessed October 4, 2026, documents these trigger limits for its service:

Alert type Documented limit What stops
Regular alert No more than 15 triggers in 3 minutes The regular alert can stop after reaching its limit.
Watchlist alert, per symbol 15 triggers in 3 minutes for each symbol When a symbol reaches its limit, that symbol’s alert stops while the other symbols can continue.
Watchlist alert, overall 1,000 triggers in 3 minutes across the watchlist alert Reaching the overall limit stops the entire watchlist alert.

These are TradingView limits, not general limits for stock-alert services. TradingView recommends changing the trigger condition or reducing the number of symbols in the watchlist when an alert is triggered too often. See TradingView’s guidance on alerts triggered too often.

Check delivery without disabling alerts you still need

Decide which alert types should reach you immediately and through which channel. Review the alert’s own delivery options, then check whether the app, browser, or device allows that channel. A device-level permission can affect delivery even when the rule remains active; conversely, changing a broad notification category may leave custom alerts untouched.

  • Keep channels enabled only where timely interruption is useful.
  • Turn off categories you do not need, such as company-news notifications, without assuming this changes custom price-alert rules.
  • After changing settings, verify one retained alert’s symbol, trigger condition, and delivery route.

Alerts are informational tools, not a guarantee of an execution price or a recommendation to trade.
