The best wireless gaming headset with Dolby Atmos depends first on your platform and the headset’s exact version. For Xbox or Windows, the Audeze Maxwell for Xbox has an embedded Atmos license, but the original model is now marked legacy by Audeze. Turtle Beach’s Stealth Pro II is the broadest documented multiplatform option, while the refreshed Xbox Wireless Headset offers an Xbox-focused choice with Atmos included at no extra cost. These are feature-based matches, not hands-on rankings.

Which headset fits your platform?
Xbox and Windows: Audeze Maxwell for Xbox
The Maxwell Xbox version is the clearest choice here if an included Atmos license is the deciding feature. Dolby says the license automatically activates when the headset connects to an Xbox or Windows PC. Audeze’s comparison distinguishes the Xbox model’s Atmos support from the PlayStation version’s Tempest 3D Audio support, so do not assume the same license comes with every Maxwell SKU.
There is an important generation caveat: Audeze currently labels the original Maxwell a legacy product no longer available for sale and links to Maxwell 2, while Dolby still hosts a page for the original Xbox model. A retailer listing that simply says “Maxwell” does not establish which generation or platform version is being offered. Verify both before purchase.
Several platforms: Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II
Turtle Beach documents Stealth Pro II compatibility with Xbox, PlayStation, PC and mobile, with 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.3 available simultaneously. Its CrossPlay 2.0 dock is described as supporting switching between connected sources. This makes it a feature-rich option to investigate if you move between systems, but check which version and transmitters are included rather than assuming every bundle is identical.

The company lists two rechargeable, swappable battery packs, each rated for up to 40 hours. That is a manufacturer-published maximum for each pack, not a comparative test result. Its format specifications are platform-dependent: Turtle Beach says PC and other compatible devices can support 24-bit/96kHz, while Xbox and PlayStation are limited to 16-bit/48kHz. Some microphone, game-chat and hi-res Bluetooth features also vary between the Xbox and PC versions.
Xbox-focused: refreshed Xbox Wireless Headset
Xbox Wire announced the refreshed Xbox Wireless Headset on October 22, 2024, with Dolby Atmos included at no additional cost. The same announcement lists Windows Sonic and DTS Headphone:X support, Bluetooth 5.3, and up to 20 hours of playtime. Xbox Wire notes DTS may require additional purchases, app downloads and supported hardware; its statement about Atmos being included is specific to the announced refreshed headset.

What “Dolby Atmos included” means
Separate a headset’s Atmos compatibility from how its license is provided. The Xbox Maxwell’s embedded license and the refreshed Xbox Wireless Headset’s announced no-extra-cost Atmos support are product-specific claims. Dolby also describes Dolby Access as the app for setting up a Dolby device, adjusting audio and imaging settings, or starting a free trial of Dolby Atmos for Headphones on Xbox One or Windows 10 PC. A general app or trial route is not the same as an included headset license. See Dolby’s headphones and setup information.
The cited Dolby guidance names Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, and does not establish every current setup detail for all platforms or operating-system versions. Check the headset maker’s instructions and the current Dolby Access flow for your specific device. Atmos support should not be presumed to work identically on PlayStation just because a headset supports wireless audio there.

How to choose without mistaking specifications for test results
- Start with the system and SKU. Decide whether you need Xbox, Windows PC, PlayStation or multi-system support. Then check the exact version: the Maxwell license is Xbox-specific, and Turtle Beach documents differences between Stealth Pro II versions.
- Confirm the license route. Look for an explicit statement that Atmos is included with the exact version, rather than relying on a general mention of Dolby Access or Atmos compatibility.
- Compare connection needs. If you want wireless audio from more than one source, check whether simultaneous connections and switching are supported, which dock or transmitter is included, and whether any extra hardware is sold separately.
- Treat battery claims as claims, not guarantees. Turtle Beach’s two packs are each rated up to 40 hours; Xbox Wire gives up to 20 hours for the refreshed Xbox headset. Those published maxima are not directly comparable test results.
- Assess comfort and sound independently. The cited product pages establish features and published specifications, not comparative comfort, microphone, latency, sound-quality or battery-test results. Seek independent reviews that address your head shape, use pattern and platform if those factors are decisive.
- Check current stock and price. The official sources establish no current price comparison or retailer inventory. This matters especially for the original Maxwell, whose legacy status makes generation-specific listing checks essential.
Setup: getting Atmos working
- Identify the exact headset model and platform version. For example, the Maxwell’s automatic Atmos license is described for its Xbox version, not as a universal feature of every Maxwell.
- Connect the headset using the manufacturer’s supported method. For the Xbox Maxwell, Dolby says the embedded license activates on connection to Xbox or Windows PC.
- Use Dolby Access when the setup calls for it. Dolby identifies the app as the route for setting up a Dolby device and adjusting audio and imaging settings on Xbox One or Windows 10 PC; it also offers a free trial of Atmos for Headphones. Do not treat that trial as proof that a specific headset license is bundled.
- Check the current device settings and instructions. The available Dolby setup information does not specify every current menu path or platform workflow, so follow the prompts shown for your device rather than relying on a universal sequence.
Recommendation
Choose by platform and license first, then weigh connections, batteries and fit. The Xbox Maxwell has the most explicit embedded Atmos-license claim for Xbox and Windows, subject to careful generation and SKU checks. Stealth Pro II is the documented choice for broad platform coverage and simultaneous wireless/Bluetooth connectivity, with version and audio-format differences to consider. The refreshed Xbox Wireless Headset is the straightforward Xbox-focused option if its current listing matches the model announced in 2024. No universal winner is established by these published specifications alone.
