The Astro A50 X is the clearer choice if you want Logitech-documented Dolby Atmos on Xbox or PC/Mac, or need video switching between consoles. Logitech describes the Astro A50 (Gen 5) as a multi-system headset with audio switching, but its product page does not confirm Dolby Atmos support. That omission is not proof that Atmos is unsupported.

PC and Mac
Logitech lists USB-C connection and Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic for PC/Mac. The same page also names Game/Chat mixing and Logitech G HUB customization.
PS5
Logitech describes PS5 support as 3D Audio, alongside Game/Chat mixing. It does not say that the A50 X uses Dolby Atmos on PS5, so the Xbox Atmos claim should not be carried over to Sony’s console. Logitech lists HDMI 2.1 connection and 4K 120 Hz passthrough for its PS5 connection as well.

Does the Astro A50 Gen 5 have Dolby Atmos?
Logitech’s reviewed A50 Gen 5 product page does not state whether the headset supports Dolby Atmos. It does list Xbox, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2 compatibility, along with PLAYSYNC Audio switching among three systems. Because the page’s silence is not evidence of a lack of support, a categorical yes or no is not established by that product information. For buyers for whom Atmos support is essential, confirm the specific Gen 5 platform and setup with Logitech before purchase.
Can the A50 X switch video between Xbox and PS5?
Logitech describes A50 X PLAYSYNC as supporting video switching on console as well as audio switching on console and PC. That is the key documented distinction from the A50 Gen 5, whose PLAYSYNC Audio feature is described as audio switching. Logitech states that PLAYSYNC can connect up to three systems; the A50 X product page lists Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC/Mac. The vendor’s description supports console video switching, but does not specify every possible device routing or setup configuration.

Which A50 should you choose?
- Choose the A50 X if Logitech-documented Dolby Atmos on Xbox or PC/Mac is a priority, or you want console video switching in addition to multi-system audio switching.
- Consider the A50 Gen 5 if audio switching across supported devices is what you need, particularly if Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 compatibility matters. Its reviewed product page does not settle the Atmos question.
- Check your exact setup before buying if the decision depends on Atmos for Gen 5, PS5 audio formats, or a particular combination of video sources. Logitech’s listed platform support is not the same as confirming every routing arrangement.
Which software supports these headsets?
Logitech’s Astro Series Software & Download page lists G HUB and the Logitech G mobile app for both A50 X and A50 Gen 5. The page lists Astro Command Center for earlier products such as A50 Gen 3 and Gen 4; do not assume that older software applies to Gen 5.
